A “yoshoku” Japanese-style Western cuisine restaurant established in 1957 located in Kata-machi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Grill Otsuka is said to be one of the restaurants which invented hanton rice, a local Kanazawa specialty dish. A hearty dish, hanton rice is ketchup rice wrapped in a semi-soft omelet, topped with deep fried breaded tuna and shrimp, and covered with ketchup and a homemade tartar sauce. In part thanks to its atmosphere reminiscent of the good, old days of the Showa period, Grill Otsuka is frequently featured in travel magazines.

Some 5-6 people were queuing outside during lunch time. We were handed menu outside and ordered outside. Payment is cash only. Staff are attentive. The most famous Hanton rice and meat sauce...

A 10-minute drive from Kanazawa Station. This steakhouse is located in Korinbo Tokyu Square, a shopping mall within walking distance of Kanazawa Castle Park and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. Surrounded by the restaurant’s dazzling atmosphere, a chef will energetically turn choice, top quality ingredients into a delicious meal right before your eyes. The restaurant serves Noto beef, a variety of Japanese black beef raised amidst the natural beauty, mountains, and sea of Noto; only a few hundred head of this rare beef are shipped each year. Compared with other brand name beef varieties, Noto beef has slightly less marbling, instead boasting an outstanding quantity of the oleic acid, an indicator of its excellent flavor. As you chat with the chef at the counter, you are encouraged to enjoy your steak with a house soy-based sauce or a secret recipe chili sauce.

We had an awesome meal at Rokkakudo Seseragi. The Wagyu sirloin was the best steak we have ever had; and the service was outstanding. We are now spoiled and will compare every restaurant to this...

A curry restaurant located on the first floor of Anto, one of the buildings comprising the Kanazawa Hyakubangai shopping mall which is directly connected to JR Kanazawa Station. The Go Go Curry chain is famous for having popularized Kanazawa-style curry across the country and serves rich, Japanese-style curry on rice with cabbage and Worcestershire sauce-toped pork cutlets served on stainless steel platters. The chain’s vaunted curry is slow-stewed over a five hour period and takes 55 steps to make, after which it must be allowed to mature for another 55 hours before it is ready. Kanazawa-style curry as offered by Go Go Curry is distinctively eaten with a fork or a spork.

A long-standing Japanese-style curry restaurant located in Hirosaka, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture which offers Kanazawa curry, a local favorite. This famous restaurant has been loved by the residents of Ishikawa Prefecture since it was established in 1971. Thick and rich, this curry goes great with toppings such as breaded pork cutlets and wieners. One of the most popular items on the menu is the L set curry, which is topped with the restaurant’s three most popular toppings.

Located at the entrance to Higashi Chaya District in the Higashiyama district of Kanazawa City, Jiyuken is a long-established Yoshoku (Japanese-style Western food) restaurant that was founded in 1909. Jiyuken serves proper, old-fashioned Yoshoku using recipes (such as a special demi-glace sauce) that have been handed down through the generations since the restaurant was first established. The rice omelet, made by frying rice and meat seasoned a soy-sauce-based sauce and then wrapping it inside a fried egg, has consistently been the most popular item on the menu. The lunchtime set meal (also available at dinnertime), which includes four Jiyuken favorites—home-made hamburgers, sautéed pork, potato croquettes, and fried shrimp in béchamel sauce—is also very popular.

Designed around the concept of Japan's old nostalgic ""Yoshoku"" Western cuisine restaurants, the establishment has a laid back, retro atmosphere.
