A conspicuous Hamburger specialty restaurant located in Takayama City in an area where much atmospheric, old architecture remains. The restaurant’s long and narrow “space for eating Hamburgers” stretches away from the entrance, and the establishment’s eye-catching décor will make you forget you’re in Japan’s Hida-Takayama region. The restaurant’s signature menu selection is its Hida beef burger—made with ingredients from Hida and limited to just a few customers each day, this original recipe Hamburger is also popular with visiting international tourists. The restaurant’s large menu also includes the unshakably popular bacon cheeseburger as well as the avocado burger, particularly popular with women. The restaurant also carries beers from around the world and a wide selection of other drinks.

I’ve lived in Japan for3 years now, and this is by far the best burger I have eaten here. The Quattro burger was huge and tasty. No side order required, although I shared a few wedges (fries) with my...

This Japanese and Western style restaurant a two-minute walk from JR Hida-Furukawa Station specializes in Hida beef steaks. This is a great place to dine on genuine Hida beef in a Japanese atmosphere. Their popular Hida Beef Mini Sirloin Steak set meal featuring a small, high-quality sirloin steak with seasonal tempura vegetables and more served in cute bowls comes highly recommended. They also have popular steak course meals for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, as well as fun dishes like their Hida-Furukawa Tasting Tour series with offerings tied to local place names.

This small restaurant has English menus and the most amazing food. It is so good, we are tempted to go there again tomorrow rather than trek into Takayama. It closes at 8:30 so you need to get there...

An authentic Italian cuisine restaurant located in the Gero Onsen hot spring district a 10 minute walk from JR Gero Station. The owner aims to make use of skills cultivated through training in areas throughout Italy combined with ingredients primarily from Hida to serve healthy, delicious food. Particularly recommended is the tomato and mozzarella cheese spaghetti, a classic Italian dish which is made with locally-grown tomatoes. The restaurant has counter and table seating areas as well as booths. Diners sitting at the tables on the west side of the restaurant can enjoy a superb view of the Hida River below along with their meal.

Had the set menu- 5 course. 3 choices of pizza and 4 of pasta or meat/fish at extra cost. Wine was good and reasonable. Half bottle of a nice Sardinian Red cost the same as s glass in the hotel...

This French restaurant is located a five-minute walk from JR Takayama Station right next to the Kokubunji-higashi intersection. The owner-chef has served the finest French cuisine using local Hida Takayama ingredients with the concept of local production for local consumption for some 30-odd years. The recommended “select Hida beef round healthy steak” is an amazing dish of Hida beef grilled over the perfect flame with condensed umami, sweetness and aroma. It is also suggested that you enjoy the restaurant like a bistro where you can enjoy yourself while being carefree at the counter drinking wine that matches menu items on the blackboard with recommended dishes for the day.

We stopped in for dinner at Bistro Mieux after a few other restaurants we looked at were full, and we’re so glad we gave it a try. The hostess was very warm and welcoming, and each dish we ordered...

This authentic Italian restaurant occupies a modern Western-style building in Kawaramachi's old town with its historic ambience. Their meals are prepared with seasonal ingredients by their skilled, Italian trained chef, and you'll love dining in its comfortable space that blends Japanese and Western styles. Their dinner course comes recommended. Changing monthly, it makes the most of the seasonal flavors available. The restaurant is perfect for dinners on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries, with a view of Mt. Kinka and Gifu Castle, which are lit up after dark. For their lunchtime Premium Course, you need to make reservations the day before at the latest.

We passed by this small restaurant on a walk around town one day, and decided to give it a try. Italian food in Japan? Seemed different, and I cannot tell you how impressed we were. The food was...

    Gifu Nakatsugawa-shi Momoyamacho 62-19
This western-style restaurant was made out of the idea of a place where one can enjoy food without any pretense. You can enjoy exciting meals at this restaurant located a ten-minute walk from Nakatsugawa Station. They boast an exquisite pizza made from their home specialty dough and sauce, and baked in an authentic kiln. There is also an all-you-can-drink plan, so the restaurant can be used for parties.

This French restaurant and steak house is ten minutes on foot from Takayama Station on the Takayama Main Line. Guests enjoy leisurely meals in the antique interior of their old kominka (old Japanese house). They use only the highest A5 grade Hida Beef fillet and sirloin. The finely marbled meat is soft enough to melt in your mouth. Apart from steak, you can dine on fare like tail stew, sliced and seared Hida Beef tataki, fish, Japanese tiger prawns, abalone, and more. According to your budget, you can get your meat cut to order as well.

Located a 10-minute walk from JR Takayama Station, Le Midi-i is a chef-owned Italian restaurant that serves local Hida beef, pasta, pizza, hamburgers, and its own, highly regarded bread. Its Ragu Pasta is an exquisite treat. A large portion of Hida beef is slowly simmered in red wine to bring out the full savory flavor of the meat, and this becomes the topping for pasta boiled in hot water for just the right amount of time. Other carefully prepared, Italian-inspired menu items include Hida Beef Carpaccio Pizza and the Gibie Burger, made with Hida natural wild boar.

    Gifu Pref. Takayamashi Kamisannomachi 90
This casual Japanese restaurant offers Gifu’s famous Hida beef. It was a successful inn during the mid-Meiji period (1668-1912) when it was founded, and the building remains as it was then. The traditional hearth gives it a real feel of old Japan. Their main dish is a Hida beef topped rice bowl. They also serve steak and aburi rolled beef that lets the flavor of the A5 grade Hida beef shine. Other dishes include special Hida beef curry on rice and soba noodles with meat. Their Hida beef nigiri zushi is great to eat on the go, making Sakaguchiya a perfect spot to drop in while seeing the town. There’s a collection of marionettes in the storehouse at the back.
