The market sells fresh picked vegetables, flowers, Japanese plums (a local Oyama specialty), and foods made with local agricultural products. In the adjoining restaurant, visitors can enjoy healthy dishes made with local vegetables and edible wild plants served all-you-can-eat buffet style.

    大山ガルテンの本店です。国道212号線沿いで日田と杖立温泉の間です。大分道の日田IC経由で小国方面に出かけたときに帰りによく立ち寄ります。食事の場所も併設されています。日田市内ですが、小国の牛乳やヨーグルトもあるのがありがたいです。この日は梅シロップと牛乳、ヨーグルトを買って帰りました。

    This restaurant offers cuisine made freely with carefully selected foodstuffs including Bungo cows directly from Eagle Farm, Koshihikari rice from Senchomuta, and natural water from the foot of Mt. Kuenhira. The menu is complete with Bungo beef steak, beef bowls, and the well-known Toriten chicken. The limited quantity beef loin yakiniku bowl and Bungo beef leftover set menu are popular, while the Saturday and Sunday-limited blueberry sweets are also wonderful.

    Since its opening in 1989, this long-established steak restaurant has enjoyed undying popularity. The carefully selected Bungo beef steaks are priced very reasonably, and the steaks are kept on the iron plate until the moment you eat them, so as not to let any of their juice be wasted. After customers finish eating their steak, rice is added to their plate to soak up the remaining juice, in the “Somuri style.” There are also à la carte menu items, including homemade ham and wine and a wide variety of alcohols to go with the steak.

The restaurant serves authentic, spicy Indian curry made with a curry sauce created from onions slowly sauteed until they turn transparent, tomatoes, and spices. The Pokara Curry Set meal is particularly recommended and comes with salad, chapatti, turmeric rice, a drink, and your choice of one of seven curry varieties, including chicken, vegetable, keema, and masala chicken. Taking pride in the kind of detailed service which can only be provided in a reservation-only restaurant, for those who so desire, the establishment can even make you a full course meal made only using local vegetables which might include dishes such as bok choy simmered in cream, and roast onion with mashed potato garnish.

Toriten is made by covering chicken with tempura batter and deep frying it, and it resembles yet is different from karaage, a style of fried chicken popular across Japan. The restaurant's toriten is crisp and juicy; try it with a splash of ponzu citrus sauce for a light, refreshing flavor. The Toriten Set meal is particularly popular and comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. The restaurant also serves other chicken dishes such as roast chicken, as well as tonkatsu breaded pork cutlets, deep fried white fish, and more.     This restaurant stands on the grounds of a ranch of the same name on the Tsukahara Highlands. The restaurant serves cuisine made with an abundance of vegetables grown and picked fresh in its own garden, and milk from the ranch produced that very day. You can buy homemade milk ice cream at the front of the restaurant as well as homemade pudding which is available for takeout. You can enjoy authentic French cuisine here, as well. The beef stew set meal is particularly recommended, and other menu highlights include the Bungo beef and veal steak set meals. The restaurant makes use of the most delicious ingredients of the season, and prepares a special course meal around Christmas.
