A restaurant inside the Tenri Trail Center in Yanagimoto-cho, Tenri City. They are located along the Yamanobeno Michi (means the road at the skirts of the mountain) which is said to be the oldest road in Japan. Their menu offers western dishes including Hamburg steak and fried shrimp. Their Western Lunch Meal pairs the meal with a drink of your choice including either beer or a glass of wine.

Haru has an old-fashioned look appropriate to the ancient capital of Nara, including a Japanese garden and sunken hearth. This famous restaurant serves old-fashioned yoshoku made with local specialty products such as select Yamato beef and Yamato pork. Some of the most popular items on the menu are the juicy hamburg steak and huge wild fried prawns with head. Women love Haru’s Hayashi rice topped with a crisply breaded pork cutlet. The inside of the restaurant has the quiet atmosphere of an old-fashioned Japanese home, making it easy to enjoy a quiet meal at your leisure.

An Italian restaurant located a four minute walk from Kintetsu-Nara Station which serves dishes lovingly prepared from select Nara ingredients including traditional Yamato vegetables, Yamato pork, and Yamato beef. In spite of Nara’s lack of access to the ocean, the restaurant is also renowned for its fresh seafood shipped direct from Tosashimizu. The restaurant has a stylish interior and relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy for both couples an groups to enjoy themselves. In addition to a la carte dishes such as chewy oven-baked pizza and authentic pastas, the restaurant also offers a full menu of reasonably-priced lunch choices.

Good pasta and pizza, service was very good on a busy night. We had no problems communicating to them in English. They coped with allergies very well. We enjoyed our meal!

They offer highly original creative cuisine using Nara foodstuffs including Yamato pork, Yamato Nadeshiko eggs and organic vegetables from their own farm for dishes like Naramachi Pasta accented with sake lees and tea leaves. With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
