The restaurant has 16 counter seats and six table seats, and characteristically, they use Hokkaido products for sushi rice as well as sushi toppings. All are offered at a reasonable price. In addition to the classic nigiri-zushi and gunkan-maki styles of sushi, the restaurant also offers a Morimori series in its menu, which features an abundance of sushi atop a plate. The house special is Kaisen Don (a bowl of rice topped with seafood), made with fresh fish and seafood delivered directly from the market and Hokkaido-grown rice; the restaurant offers more than 30 different varieties of Don, besides a comprehensive range of other fishermen’s cuisine delicacies evocative of the seas off Hokkaido, including rice-balls, sashimi, Red King Crab and broiled Okhotsk Atka Mackerel. The restaurant's service is excellent and Sushikin was listed in the Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017 Special Edition. Local musician Teru of the group Glay has eaten here with his family since he was a child and Sushikin is also a destination for fans of the band. The restaurant's sea urchin rolls, topped with shredded konbu seaweed, are called Glay Rolls.

The restaurant's prices are also reasonable and it is popular in part because of its hearty portions of fresh seafood. The restaurant is snug but has 10 counter seats as well as a tatami mat seating area with a sliding shoji door, making it easy for families to eat here as well.
