    This is a fresh seafood restaurant in Tomakomai, Hokkaido. Since it's so close to Tomakomai port, it's very popular for the Marutoma Bowl made with fresh seasonal fish, and Hokki Curry, made with Hokki clams of which Tomakomai has the largest catch. Not only are the meals filling and cheap, the fact that it's so popular with locals has made it a major tourist spot.

    We arrived around 11am. Already queued up for 20 mins before we get our seats. The queue became so long after 12pm. Shop will be close for 10 days August. Around 10-20 Aug

    Kikuyo is a long-standing dining hall established in 1956, located within the Wakamatsu Town morning market, Hakodate City, Hokkaido. It started out as a small dining hall for morning market buyers, and now it has become a famous shop that has been covered by the media. Here you can taste fresh seafood, mainly of Hakodate, all at very affordable prices. They have bowls of rice topped with salmon roe, scallops, fish and other seafood, you can try the impressive unidon (sea urchin on rice), or how about the ika somen (squid noodle) which uses squid caught fresh in the morning. The sweet rice cooked in pots over charcoal is also really nice.

    Okadaya is known for its shiroi oshiruko (white, sweet red-bean soup) which is popular at events such as the Sapporo Snow Festival and Hokkaido product fairs. The restaurant is located about three minutes walk from the Donan bus terminal at Toya Onsen. The completely white sweet soup made with locally produced beans and milk is a popular treat with both children and adults alike. Also on the menu is dorayaki (red-bean jam filled sponge cake) which is baked in the shop, nishin-don (herring on rice) which has been popular since the time the restaurant was founded in the Showa period, and the large Hokkaido pork cutlet curry. All these dishes are perfect for when you want to take lunch or a time out from sightseeing around Lake Toya.

    This restaurant is located inside Uemura Ranch, southwest of Shiraoi Interchange, down the road beneath the expressway. It is easily recognizable by the signs placed in the vicinity. The ranch is somewhat unusual in Hokkaido, as it produces Japanese Black beef from the breeding stage, and the biggest attraction of Shiraoi beef is the consistent high-quality of the meat, which was given the highest award by the Shiraoi beef association in 2013. The Shiraoi beef luxury course buffet is available only on Saturdays and Sundays, and a reservation is required. The Shiraoi beef lunch course is a limited 10-course meal which is available on weekdays, and also requires a reservation. The King of Flames Cheese Hamburg set is another of the restaurant's most recommended menu items.

The restaurant has seats for about 200 people, providing small and large private rooms able to cater to a variety of parties. The cuisine offered on the menu uses local produce and includes Hokkaido wagyu beef, Yezo sika deer meat stewed in black beer, fried clams from the Okhotsk Sea etc. The drink menu includes a variety of beers such as pilsner and ales, and for those non-drinkers, non-alcoholic beer.

    Brought here by driver, salted noodles and scallop are supposed to be the local specialty. A little western influence, sweet onions n mushrooms in fried noodles. Deer meat hamburger also tasty.

    This cafe-restaurant is located 3 minutes' walk from Biei Station. Customers can enjoy European-style home cooking in this brightly lit building with its nostalgic aura. The store with its chanson mood music, is run by a married couple. Lunches are made up of mini courses, which feature an abundance of freshly picked vegetables of the day. Also, on the menu is characteristic rural French cuisine, Pot au Feu, stewed chicken in a tomato sauce, and stewed 100% beef hamburgers, all abundantly satisfying.

    This cozy little restaurant located in Kushiro Town, Kushiro County, Hokkaido, offers Western-style lunches and set meals all in big portions. The restaurant is famous for its zantare, which is the Hokkaido specialty of zangi, otherwise known as deep fried chicken, covered with a sweet and sour sauce. The store has been widely covered by TV and magazines. Large helpings of zantare go well with rice so you’ll never tire of the taste. Nanban Tei is a really popular place, always busy at lunchtime so be prepared to wait.

    Located on Cape Nosappu in Nemuro, this diner is the eastern most diner in Japan. Their signature menu item is the pacific saury Sanma Donburi bowl, purportedly originated at this diner. The raw fatty saury fills the bowl to overflowing covering all the rice. The blue king crab grilled stew that comes with the set menu is also recommended. A drive-in motel adjoins the restaurant, so overnight stays are also accommodated.

    This restaurant gets good views of the station being situated directly behind Biei Station. With a wood interior giving a calm relaxed feel, KOERU is a pleasing place to stop by whether by yourself, with a friend or in a group. The menu uses locally sourced ingredients (from Biei, Kamikawa and Hokkaido) and all the dishes are handmade. On the second floor is a guest house, Oka no Yado KOERU.

    This impressive restaurant was awarded a star in the Michelin Guide 2017 Special Edition. Located in Hokuei Komugi no Oka in Biei Town, the entire area is a sprawling field of wheat. The restaurant takes particular pride in its authentic breads made by grinding fresh wheat in a stone mortar and baking it in a stone oven. Another popular aspect of the restaurant is its use of whole vegetables picked locally. The restaurant is adjoined by a hotel and there is a special menu just for guests. Another great thing about bi.ble is that you can just stop by to buy some of the restaurant's delicious bread to take home.
