    Okadaya is known for its shiroi oshiruko (white, sweet red-bean soup) which is popular at events such as the Sapporo Snow Festival and Hokkaido product fairs. The restaurant is located about three minutes walk from the Donan bus terminal at Toya Onsen. The completely white sweet soup made with locally produced beans and milk is a popular treat with both children and adults alike. Also on the menu is dorayaki (red-bean jam filled sponge cake) which is baked in the shop, nishin-don (herring on rice) which has been popular since the time the restaurant was founded in the Showa period, and the large Hokkaido pork cutlet curry. All these dishes are perfect for when you want to take lunch or a time out from sightseeing around Lake Toya.

    At first glance, the soup with rice balls offered by this shop does not seem like much. But its a good tonic on a cold and windy day when you take in the sweetened warm soup with the small chewy rice...

    Kikuyo is a long-standing dining hall established in 1956, located within the Wakamatsu Town morning market, Hakodate City, Hokkaido. It started out as a small dining hall for morning market buyers, and now it has become a famous shop that has been covered by the media. Here you can taste fresh seafood, mainly of Hakodate, all at very affordable prices. They have bowls of rice topped with salmon roe, scallops, fish and other seafood, you can try the impressive unidon (sea urchin on rice), or how about the ika somen (squid noodle) which uses squid caught fresh in the morning. The sweet rice cooked in pots over charcoal is also really nice.

The restaurant’s daily lunch, with changing main courses each week, is a popular dish with big portions of meat or fish. Their Hamburg steak with its demi-glace sauce is the restaurant’s signature dish. It can also be eaten out in a bento (packed lunch). For dinner, you can enjoy plenty of fresh Hokkaido food from the a la carte menu while taking in the beautiful evening views. The nearest station is the Suehirocho Tram Station.

    This restaurant gets good views of the station being situated directly behind Biei Station. With a wood interior giving a calm relaxed feel, KOERU is a pleasing place to stop by whether by yourself, with a friend or in a group. The menu uses locally sourced ingredients (from Biei, Kamikawa and Hokkaido) and all the dishes are handmade. On the second floor is a guest house, Oka no Yado KOERU.

    A natural and lovely looking log house-style farm restaurant located in Shikaoi Town, Kato County, Hokkaido. The buffet-style local cuisine using food from Hokkaido and the Shikaoi area is extremely popular and you’ll often find long queues at lunchtime. Of the food on offer, nikujaga (a common home cooked meat and potato stew) using local Shikaoi May Queen potatoes is particularly popular. From stews to western-style food, there’s plenty on offer for people of all ages to enjoy at this restaurant. There are also cottages on the farm where you can stay overnight.

    全体的に野菜が多めで、ほっとする家庭料理のようなメニューがたくさんのバイキング。 デザートは、1人につき、2つ選択する方式でした。 価格と制限時間、メニューの内容を思うと、コスパがいいとは言えないと思いますが、アットホームで家族連れには向いているのかなと思います。ホテルなどでのバイキングのように、普段と違うものを食べたい!という方には不向きな気がします。

With plenty of cheese topping, this curry udon dish with fried noodles is something that must be tried. There’s plenty of food on the menu for the whole family to enjoy, such as ramen made with Biei wheat and soft ice cream using Biei milk.

    This 10 hectare sheep ranch has both a restaurant and a guest house on the farm. Here you can spend a relaxing time taking part in a wide range of activities, such as sheep shearing, spinning to create original wool, and making felt pouches, etc. The restaurant’s most prized dish on the menu is the farm-reared lamb.

    The chief is superb especially on the lamb dishes and the fish was good too. We had a sumptuous dinner and hearty breakfast.

    This cozy little restaurant located in Kushiro Town, Kushiro County, Hokkaido, offers Western-style lunches and set meals all in big portions. The restaurant is famous for its zantare, which is the Hokkaido specialty of zangi, otherwise known as deep fried chicken, covered with a sweet and sour sauce. The store has been widely covered by TV and magazines. Large helpings of zantare go well with rice so you’ll never tire of the taste. Nanban Tei is a really popular place, always busy at lunchtime so be prepared to wait.

    At this farm restaurant, located in Chitose City, Hokkaido, you can taste pizza and ice cream made with fruits and vegetables grown on the farm. Pizzas baked in their stone pizza oven come out wonderfully crispy and smelling great. The insalata pizza topped with fresh salad and raw ham is especially popular. Or, while you take in the magnificent views, treat yourself to some of their homemade ice cream, made in various flavors depending on the season. On the farm you can get up close with the animals and around the middle of June you can also pick your own strawberries.

    Located directly in front of JR Onuma-Koen Station, this sightseeing facility houses souvenir shops, rest areas, restaurants and a rental bicycle service. The lakeside of Lake Onuma is a treasure trove of autumn leaves, fresh greenery, and wild animals, and takes about 70 minutes to go around the lake by bicycle. Renting a bike is a great way to get about and take in the scenery. In the restaurant you can taste the flavors of Hokkaido with dishes using the local specialty of water-shield (a kind of plant), and Mongolian-style mutton barbecue set meals. Don’t forget to check out the views of Onuma from the observatory on the third floor!

    大沼ビールを飲みたくて、ブロイハウス大沼に行ったのですが、臨時休業でがっかりしてたところ、こちらでも飲めることを思い出して来ました。 生ビールはやはり美味しいです。 注ぎ方も良く、満足して帰りました。

Maru also offers a la carte dishes such as scallops fried in butter. The restaurant is only open from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 when the market is bustling. For dessert, Maru serves a melon jelly made with heaping amounts of renowned Yubari King cantaloupe.
