Mori no Tokei “Forest Clock” Cafe is located in the grounds of the New Furano Prince Hotel in Furano City, Hokkaido. The cafe was actually created for a famous television drama called Yasashi Jikan in which the leading character opened the place as a shop making it the main stage for the story. Open the door of the cafe that stands quietly in the middle of the forest and the sweet aroma of coffee will come wafting through. Enjoy the great tasting coffee and the cakes reminiscent of snow while looking out at the changing seasons through the large windows.

Not the first time I visited this restaurant. Its almost a packaged deal for people who go to Ningle Terrace. The menu is small. A cake, a curry rice, a coffee... thats about it. This place...

This log cabin cafe restaurant situated in Biei Town, Kamikawa County, Hokkaido has a wonderful open and warm feel with a spacious, high vaulted ceiling. It boasts healthy dishes using plenty of seasonal vegetables lovingly grown by local farmers. Depending on the variety of vegetable, they are left to ripen under the snow for a number of months before being picked at just the right time for the best taste. Their pumpkin stew using one whole pumpkin, and curry with lots of ingredients are especially popular dishes.

Ate with my brother for lunch on our way to Biei. Lovely and charming place with panoramic views on the fields. Food is simple and tasty. Perfect stop. Small handy craft shop as well. Thank you!

This main shop of Miyakoshiya Coffee, a much-loved shop in Hokkaido, is located in the Maruyama area of Sapporo City. Its heavy stone-walled exterior is eye-catching, and the interior is filled with tables, chairs and furnishings, decorated so as to calm the mind. The store’s motto is “Coffee that any person will say is the best.” It roasts its own coffee beans, carefully valuing the five aspects of coffee “richness,” “fragrance,” “flavor,” “acid taste,” and “bitterness,” and the homemade cakes also go very well with the coffee. From the window on the second floor, customers can look out over Maruyama Park as they relax.

Not just a prefecture but an island of its own, Hokkaido is the most northerly prefecture and island of the Japanese archipelago. Arriving in Hokkaido, which is rural and bursting with breathtaking nature, means entering a world where vast national parks, towering mountains, and natural hot springs can be found at every turn.
