The Akaneya Coffee Shop, founded in 1966, is a coffee shop to bombard the senses. Inside you’ll hear classical music and be served beautifully aromatic roasted coffee in one of the 200 cups, chosen especially to suit the tastes of each customer. You can also indulge in some homemade chocolate cake, smooth tasting cheesecake, bitter tasting non-sugar coffee jelly and some vanilla ice cream. The coffee shop is located about one minute on foot from the West exit of Kobe-Sannomiya Station on the Hankyu line.

Cafés these days seem to be aiming for a sleek, modern aesthetic so it was really cool to experience the vintage setting of Akaneya Coffee. As soon as soon as you step in, you feel transported into a...

This cafe operates out of a detached building a two- or three-minute walk from JR Suma Station. Situated on the coast and identifiable by its stylish exterior, the restaurant serves drinks, desserts, and foods carefully crafted by the owner. For lunch, you can choose between things like Hayashi rice, breaded and deep-fried horse mackerel, and cutlet sandwiches. Halfway along the Maiko Maritime Promenade, it's a great spot to enjoy dishes featuring items produced locally for local consumption while taking in the view of the Seto Inland Sea. They offer an array of dishes chock-full of Akashi ingredients, including rice with octopus, seafood ramen noodles, and octopus croquettes. They serve craft beer, too. Since there is also a shop selling Akashi specialty products on-site, many tourists stop by while out shopping.

Guests love their scrumptious original Chinese food made with an eye to nutritional balance. They serve many items rarely found in Japan's Chinese restaurants, such as gomoku ankake rice made in ""Shaguo"" (earthenware pot) and a variety of tofu that is often found in Chinese stalls."

Their colorful showcase is always packed with 12 to 18 varieties of mouth-watering handmade tarts. They make sure that the combination of ingredients in the recipes and decoration don't distract from the natural flavors of the ingredients themselves. The tarts are ideal for birthdays and anniversaries. You can also have one there along with coffee, black tea, or herb tea.

A coffee shop on Kobe Motomachi Ichiban Shopping Street. Since its founding in 1960, it has been popular with a wide range of people across the age spectrum. Their ever-popular hot cakes made with house batter are slowly baked on a griddle until a mouthwatering golden brown. Served the old-fashioned way topped with butter and honey, they're carefully prepared one at a time when an order is placed. They go great with the smoothness of the shop's nel drip coffee. Stop in and you may lose track of time.

"An Italian-style cafe at the Kobe branch of Daimaru with its concept of ""Classic & Modern."" Like a cafe you'd find in Milan, it's on a street with retro buildings and a mellow feel. The open space is great for relaxing while taking in the atmosphere of the former foreign district. Their popular Espresso Flight No. 1 Cappuccino lets you enjoy two kinds of espresso."

Hyogo prefecture stretches from the north coast to the south coast on the western end of the popular Kansai region, encompassing verdant mountains, urban beaches, and fantastic historical sights. The prefecture’s main attractions lie along the south coast at Kobe, the prefectural capital, a pretty harbor city best known for its production of the renowned Kobe beef, and Himeji, the home of Himeji Castle, one of the country’s most beautifully preserved feudal castles, perched magically atop a hill.
