This is a buta-manju (steamed pork bun) specialist shop established in 1915 in Kobe’s Nankinmachi Chinatown. It is known as the originator of the “buta-manju” and “buta-man,” created when the founders brought the Chinese “tenshin-pozu” to Japan and adapted for Japanese tastes. Fluffy dough overflowing with meat juices, the bun is a Nankinmachi Chinatown favorite with consistent queues to get one. Aside from takeout, there is also an eat-in space available. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

So, prepare to line up for the small pork buns. It’s not that long of a wait anyway because the service is really fast unless you’re waiting to sit in the restaurant which you will need to wait for...

This well-established steak house that is located a three-minute walk from Sannomiya was founded in 1885. Ever since then they have been particular about the quality of their meat, and they also have good quality, thoroughly marbled Kobe beef on hand. The soft steak that has a texture which almost seems to melt in one's mouth is an exquisite masterpiece that allows the diner to thoroughly enjoy the umami flavor of the premium meat. The lunch options that allow guests to enjoy Kobe beef and other carefully selected beef at reasonable prices are popular. With its classy yet relaxed atmosphere, many patrons use this restaurant for anniversaries or special occasions.

We booked a reservation here because we knew it was very popular. We wanted to come for lunch. Kobe beef is VERY expensive but we wanted to try it. This restaurant was founded in 1885 is well known...

A steakhouse located in Kitanagasa-dori 1-Chome, Chuo Ward, Kobe City. The establishment serves steaks made with choice, top quality Kobe beef, and customers can enjoy watching as a chef prepares their meal with exquisite skill on an iron griddle right in front of your eyes. During lunchtime, the restaurant offers a reasonably priced steak lunch which comes with grilled vegetables, rice, and your choice of either a 100-gram or 150-gram steak.

Overhyped. Service was slow. Things didnt arrive until asked for. Giving the benefit of the doubt that a more experienced chef wouldve have picked up on the service. Beef was okay/good, but rest of...

"This bakery and cafe is located in the Ikuta-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe City. It was founded in 1924 by a German husband and Japanese wife team who popularized German bread in Japan, and were also the inspiration for the NHK serial television drama ""Kazamidori."" The bakery continues to bake not only German bread in a brick oven, but also cookies, pound cakes and other baked sweets, while the adjacent cafe serves sandwiches made with freshly baked bread, coffee and sweets."

While the food is good and the atmosphere pleasent, its not anything /too/ unusual or impressive. The church is great for the aesthetics, the cakes and sandwiches are wonderfully presented, but its...

This is a local food restaurant directly managed by the JA National Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives Hyogo. This is a well-known restaurant where you can have set courses of Kobe beef, Tajima beef and seasonal local vegetables. There are three types of courses available such as the “Teppan-yaki” (Japanese cooking prepared on a hot steel plate) course, the “Seiro-mushi” (Bamboo steamer course) course or a “Shabu-shabu” (thinly sliced meat boiled quickly with vegetables and dipped in sauce) course. During the “Teppan-yaki” course, the chef offers to grill directly in front of you—A4 and A5 Kobe beef and Tajima beef mesmerise the world with its rich flavors.

Best to get the hotel to make reservations before visiting this restaurant. It’s popular, and there is no point walking in to get a table. Menu is available according to where one is seated at the...

This is a boulangerie in Goko-dori, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, produced by the chef of a French restaurant. Focusing mainly on hard breads, they also have fluffy rectangular bread, side-dish bread, sandwiches, cakes and a variety of other original offerings. In the joint cafe one can eat the bread or cake bought at the boulangerie, or order from the food menu which includes hamburgers and sandwiches.

A casual Chinese restaurant on the corner of Sannomiya Center Gai Shopping Street. Since its establishment in 1954, it's been serving Chinese food such as pork buns, and gyoza and shumai dumplings. The restaurants are on the building's second and third floors. It's great for a range of occasions, whether you're having a company gathering, bringing the children, or dining alone. Their signature pork buns that they steam right at the storefront have the same great flavor as their early days. They often sell 8,000 buns a day and they continue to be a classic Kobe gift.

This is one my my favorite places to eat Gyoza. They serve a big variety of delicious food and the prices are extremely affordable. A highly recommended place in Sannomiya.

This is a cheese and cheesecake specialist in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, and in its simple modern Western-style interior is enshrined a statue of Kannon. The Denmark cheesecake, long loved in the streets of Kobe, is a blend of raw cheese said to come from the oldest recipe. Each one is an exquisite masterpiece, boasting a fresh-baked texture and rich-bodied flavor. The alcohol-free mild cheese fondue is also popular, with flavors including curry and basil. The cheesecake is also available for takeout.

This is not the “usual” cheesecake that most people are familiar with. It’s melted Denmark cheese on a sponge cake. Nevertheless, the cheesecake is delightful and easy on the palate. There are no...

The main shop of Yoshibei, a restaurant featuring teishoku meal sets and rice bowls with several branches in Hyogo and Osaka. Since its founding in 1979, it has served the ultimate katsudon (rice bowl topped with fried pork cutlet and egg) with careful attention to everything from the pork to the breadcrumbs to the frying oil. Their signature Tamago Tojikatsu rice bowl is made with their secret house broth and lightly fried. The simple katsudon is made without onions and comes in a choice of sizes depending how hungry you are: small, regular with two eggs, and double. Other items that get good reviews are their sauce katsudon with a crispy fried pork cutlet smothered in a carefully selected sauce and a spicy Korean style katsudon with a nearly addictive mix of Gouchujang hot pepper paste, miso, and mayonnaise.

Nestled in a corner of the food street beneath the busy main shopping street, this simple eatery is more aimed at locals than tourists. The vending machine has English descriptions,xa0 so its easy to...

This Chinese restaurant located in Kobe’s Nankinmachi Chinatown is known for having long lines at peak time. The Cantonese food menu they offer is particular about the production areas of the ingredients and makes use of their original flavor. The squid tempura, one of their standard menu items since their founding, is popular for its simple and yet irresistible taste. Dishes that makes use of the food unique to Kobe such as the stir-fry using grade A5 Kobe beef are also popular. The nearest station is Motomachi Station.

A steak restaurant standing at the entranceway to Kobe's Kitano district. All of the restaurant's seats encircle a teppanyaki frying plate, and diners can watch as Kobe beef, a top class variety of Tajima beef, is skillfully prepared by a chef right in front of their eyes. Served piping hot and juicy, diners can enjoy their beef however they like, including with natural coarse salt, black pepper, mustard, or a special Japanese sauce. Also recommended are the restaurant's flavorful vegetables and seafood perfectly cooked to seal in its innate deliciousness. Order the restaurant's luxurious abalone and sirloin set to savor choice beef and seafood at the same time.

This is a branch of Nishimura Coffee, loved by the people of Kobe since its formation in 1948, located in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Once a special shop run under a membership system and host to prominent figures of various fields, it became open to the public following the Great Hanshin Earthquake. Inside the ivy-wrapped red brick building, the antique furniture gives the place a sophisticated British vibe. Here one can enjoy an elegant hour or two holding one of their prized coffees in hand. On the second floor there is also a restaurant offering authentic French cuisine.

Customers can choose between two varieties of beef patties-Japanese black beef and Kobe beef.
