Nagano prefecture Suwa City Kirigamine championship shoulder

This is a small mountain hut offering lodging on Mt. Kuruma in Kirigamine, Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture, and it provides a cafe service as well between the end of April to the end of November. The rooms all require prior booking. The cafe has a wooden deck terrace from which one can look out over the Mt. Kuruma wetlands while enjoying the fresh mountain air along with a light meal or sweets. Popular menu items include the limited cheesecake, special siphon coffee, and warm borscht. They also sell souvenirs and original goods.

This cafe offers ten or so varieties of cakes, including authentic teas from around the world and Mont Blanc cake made with walnuts from Obuse. There are always about 20 types of tea available, and their delicious flavor has even earned the shop the recognition of the Japan Tea Association. The exterior looks like a European-style house, and the interior contains antique Western furniture, allowing you to spend a pleasant, relaxing time. It’s about a seven-minute walk from Obuse Station on the Nagano Line.

This cafe sitting opposite Muro Saisei Kinenkan Museum in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku County, Nagano Prefecture, is housed within the villa used by the granddaughter of former Prime Minister of Japan, Matsukata Masayoshi, and the writer, Yoko Mori. The building is a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. They sell Japanese and Western sweets made with Nagano grown fruit and chestnuts, including their seasonal ""Four Season Kurikinton"" (mashed sweet potato and chestnuts) featuring southern Nagano's Shinshu Ina brand chestnuts. Their eat-in cafe has an original menu with seasonal items like shaved ice in the summer time."

A mountain peak café on top of Mt. Ryuo located in Yamanouchi Town, Shimotakai County, Nagano Prefecture. From the café’s 1,770 meter high terrace, you can look down on Nagano City, Iiyama City, and Kijimadaira Village; depending on the weather, a sea of clouds hides the world below like something out of a fairy tale. An old fashioned coffee shop with a retro Showa atmosphere situated along a back street in the Shibu Onsen hot spring district. This long-standing establishment has been in business for over 50 years and is operated by the woman owner, now over 90 years old. The only coffee on the menu is a single original bean blend. Each authentic, aromatic cup is made to order - first, only the amount of beans necessary to make your cup are ground, then your cup is slowly nel drip brewed. Occasionally you might get some free pieces of seasonal fruit with your order as well.

After visiting the snow monkeys on a rainy day we were in desperate need of a coffee and clearly we should have inquired about price before ordering at this tiny coffee bar that we found via a sign...

A cafe and restaurant with a spectacular view located at the connection point between the Skyliner and Sky Panorama scenic lifts halfway up Kurumayama Skypark Resort. Here customers can enjoy organic coffee brewed with Tengonsui spring water, original herbal teas, light meals, and more, along with a view of the Yatsugatake Mountains and Mt. Fuji. Particularly recommended are the establishment's pizzas baked in a dedicated oven, and the seasonal handmade cakes. ""Tsukemono-Kissa"" means ""Pickles Cafe"" and is derived from the establishment's aim to promote a culture of enjoying conversation, Japanese pickles, and coffee in Matsumoto. The coffee shop offers around eight to 10 seasonally changing varieties of pickles, including Nagano's famous coleseed green pickles as well as standard takuan pickled daikon and akakabu red turnip pickles. Operating out of a remodeled 150 year old Japanese home, the cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and a space on the first floor in the back where customers can enjoy breads made with natural yeast. The cafe serves soups made with beans and seasonal ingredients, breads baked by Levain made with natural yeast and Nagano spring water. The cafe also offers a full array of open faced sandwich combos; coffee, black tea, juices, and other drinks; and other dishes made with bread. The cafe is a great place to relax.
