"This market event is held in the fishing port of Nagashima, Kihoku Town, Kitamuro County, Mie Prefecture. The market is held for several consecutive days at the end of December each year. Here you can buy fresh seafood from the Kumano Sea and other areas, as well as local specialty products and regional foods. In addition, visitors can enjoy events such as a Pacific bluefin tuna butchering demonstration, and fresh fish sold via the ""all-you-can-stuff"" method in which you are given a bag or other container and the price is the same no matter how much fish you stuff into it as long as it fits."

Mie Areas

around-area-map

Spread across the eastern side of the Kii Peninsula, Mie prefecture boasts hundreds of kilometers of pretty coastline comprising the oyster-rich Toba city and Shima National Park all the way down to Kumano, a city that marks the beginning of part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, which runs into neighboring Wakayama prefecture. However, Mie is best known for the Ise Jingu Shinto shrine inland, one of the oldest and largest shrines in the country.
