    A large Japan Agricultural Cooperatives farmers market located a 10-minute drive from Hanamaki Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. The market carries an abundance of seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, and homemade foods. The market is also filled with side dishes and popular Japanese confections made by local mothers such as ganzuki, a local cake redolent with the aroma of brown sugar; and kirisensho, a chewy rice flower cake with a salty-sweet flavor. In addition, there are breads made with wheat grown in the prefecture, 10 grain rice blends, Hanamaki blue flowers, and a wide variety of foods like dressings and somen noodles. In the market's restaurant, you can enjoy free refills of Hitomebore rice grown in Hanamaki.

    A shopping complex located a short walk from Kamaishi Station on the Kamaishi Line in Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture. Here you'll find shops like Shichibeya Shoten and Azumasengyo-ten which sell dark sleeper, salmon from Sanriku Kamaishi, and other fresh seafood as well as foods like dried fish and pickled fish.     Located about a five-minute walk from JR Shizukuishi Station, this morning market is held on the Shizukuishi Yosharedori Shopping Arcade with it closed to vehicular traffic, and has hawkers directly selling their best products from rows of light trucks. There are many products unique to the production area such as fresh vegetables, fruits, marine products, crafts, items rarely seen, and highly discounted goods. There are also other fun events. It is held on the first Sunday of every month from May to November (the second Sunday only in July). There is a shuttle bus that operates between the parking lot, market area and Shizukuishi Station when the market is open.

There is also a corner for fried foods lined with freshly prepared side dishes, and you can also enjoy local flavors such as “tofu dengaku” with garlic miso and “kushi mochi” with walnut miso in chewy mochi rice cakes. The dumplings filled with sweet paste using acorns that have been carefully removed of their toxins are their most popular item.

    5年ほど前に行ったときは、地元の野菜、食品が大量にあり、お土産を全てここで済ますことができたが、今回は棚も空きが目立ち、全国どこにでもあるような商品も増え、全体的に縮小した感じがしてちょっと残念だった
