Komazawa Olympic Park is a sports park in Tokyo located partly in Setagaya City and partly in Meguro City. The Park complex includes the Komazawa Park Olympic Stadium, an additional stadium for football and other ball games, a gymnasium, a baseball ground, etc.; the Park’s full formal name is Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground. The first sports facilities on the site were constructed in 1949; the Park was used for several events, including wresting and volleyball, during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Around 30% of the total area of the Park is green space, and it is famous as a good place for viewing cherry blossom in spring and autumnal foliage in fall.

The stadium and the area around it are quite interesting. There’s a large park. We were there for the Ginko festival at the end of November when the trees were at their peak. It was very popular, so...

    Tokyo Setagaya-ku Tamagawa 1-16-1
A two-minute walk from the Tamagawa Koko-mae bus stop and an eight-minute walk from Kaminoge Station. This public park is situated along Tamazutsumi-dori Street and has wonderful views of the area. Some of the park's many highlights include facilities perfect for children such as the entrance square and a playground; the Setagaya Ward Tangible Cultural Property-designated Former Shimizu Family Residence Shoin; and the Kishin-en Garden, a traditional Japanese strolling garden built around a central pond. Note that the entire park is free but certain facilities close on certain days. The park also holds a variety of events for children.

Such an excellent location. Very accessible for families, especially children. Very active, even on cool spring days.

A five-minute walk from Umegaoka Station, and a seven-minute walk from Higashi-Matsubara Station. This public park is notable for its plum grove, which was planted in 1967. Since that time, several additional trees have been planted to commemorate various events, and today the grove consists of around 650 trees spanning 60 varieties. From early February through early March when the trees are in full bloom, the park holds a plum blossom festival which attracts large numbers of sightseers from across the country. The park's full array of facilities also includes tennis courts and baseball fields as well as a playground.

Just 1 station away from Gotokuji Station where where a lot of tourists goes to visit Gotokuji Temple. I enjoyed my time there, strolling and taking in the plum blossom sights. It was a lovely...

    Tokyo Setagaya-ku Todoroki 1-22, 2 - 37 - 38 outside
Todoroki Keikoku Gorge is the only gorge within the 23 Special Cities that make up central Tokyo. The Gorge is a real “urban oasis,” conveniently located only five minutes’ walk from Todoroki Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line, and around 20 minutes’ journey from Shibuya. Go down the steps at the “Gorge Entrance” sign at the foot of the Golf Bridge, and a wealth of natural beauty that you would never expect to see within the 23 Special Cities opens up before you. Visitors to the Gorge can enjoy beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons, from the plum blossom of February, through the cherry blossom of April and the new spring greenery of May through to the red leaves of the Japanese maple trees in autumn. Todoroki Keikoku Gorge offers more than just natural beauty; there is also an ancient Kofun burial tumulus, a traditional Japanese garden, the Fudo-no-taki waterfall, etc. With so much to see, Todoroki Keikoku Gorge receives many visitors throughout the year.

Tokyo Areas

around-area-map

The setting of countless iconic movie scenes and the inspiration for songs, poetry, and literature worldwide, Tokyo barely requires an introduction. It’s hard for the kaleidoscopic neon lights, wacky pop culture, and some of the world’s tallest structures not to instill excitement in any first-time visitor to Tokyo, whether you’re in the very center of the hustle and bustle in Shinjuku or Shibuya or looking in from the quieter suburbs.
