    A public park located in Chokushi Shigaraki-cho, Koka City. The park is dotted with outdoor art exhibits and also encloses such facilities as a ceramics art gallery, training hall where ceramics arts can stay, and a Shigaraki ware museum with a shop and café. The park also has ceramics arts hold workshops and demonstrational lectures as well as artist markets.

    About 20 minutes from the Youkaichi Interchange off the Meishin Expressway, this park, designed to look like a medieval German farming village spreads across the Kitayama hill region. The extensive flower fields are filled with rape seed blossoms in the spring, sunflowers in the summer, and cosmos blooms in the autumn. They are bursting with wonderful blooms in each season. The hot houses have small rose and herb gardens. The park has a petting zoo with sheep, horses, and cows, a grass tobogganing area, and an air jumper. The alpine gym is also popular, along with the gigantic athletic course which includes 72 different kinds of climbing attractions. Sausage making workshops are also offered.

    A public park located in Oiwakeminami, Kusatsu City. Facilities include a sports plaza with street basketball courts, flower plaza, playground, day camp area, outdoor stage, and insects house where children can play with rhinoceros beetles. An indoor pool is open on park grounds from mid-May to late September, while an outdoor pool is open from late July to late September.

    草津市街の南の山手にある。 急激な拡大を続ける草津市としては新幹線や高速道路の通るあたりは立命館や龍谷、滋賀医大などの大学を中心とした一大学研エリアであって、貴重な自然の残る住宅地の一部となりつつあるのだろうか。 ロクハ荘とプールといった施設を中心に、ロクハ池の周囲にはスポーツ広場・野外ステージ・キャンプ場もあるらしい。 入口近くの駐車場には利用料金表示があったが誰もいなくて徴収されなかった。

    A public park situated along the Oumi-Green Road in Kitanaiki Minakuchi-cho, Koka City. Park facilities include an insect plaza an educational farm, and visitors can come in contact with the vast natural beauty of the area. There’s also a nature museum with fossil, plant, and animal exhibits where visitors can learn about the wildlife and natural history of Koka.

    甲賀の素晴らしい自然を生かした公園です。昆虫もたくさんおり、子供たちが自然に触れることのできる楽しい公園です。駐車場もあり便利でした。

    A public park straddling Ryuo Town in Gamo County and Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture. The park’s spacious grounds extend one kilometer north to south and four kilometers east to west. The park is comprised of a sports zone complete with a baseball field, playground, and other sports and recreation facilities; an outdoor activity zone with a campground and lodges; and a culture zone with a multipurpose field and training facilities which include lodging.

A renowned destination for rapeseed flowers, from late January to early February, the grounds are carpeted with the blossoms of some 12,000 early-blooming rapeseed plants. Visitors can also enjoy charming sunflower blossoms here in summer.

    A public park situated along the Kogan Road in Imahama-cho, Moriyama City. Facing the Lake Biwa, a wide, shallow beach stretches east and west on one side. The park adjoins Daiichi Nagisa Park, known for its early blooming rapeseed flowers and sunflowers.

    A public park located in Koen-cho, Nagahama City. The park is located on the site of Nagahama Castle, a castle abandoned in the Edo period; the park’s name is derived from an alternate reading of the first character used to write the name of the mighty samurai lord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The Nagahama Castle Historical Museum, modeled after what the castle looked like during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, stands on the park’s grounds; the top of the tower serves as an observatory with a sweeping view of the surrounding area. The park is also a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing in the spring and has been selected for inclusion in Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots.

    "Nagisa Promenade is a lakeside park located a ten-minute walk from Otsu Station on the JR Biwako Line. Within the park, which extends for 4.8 kilometers, is Nagisa Promenade along the lakefront, lined with flowerbeds planted with moss phlox. In the spring, visitors can enjoy the blooming phlox along with the lovely scenery of the lake. The best time for this is from the end of April through the first week of May. Both city residents and tourists love this park as place to enjoy a stroll along the lake. In addition to the Promenade, the park is divided into five other areas: Omatsuri (""Festival"") Plaza, Uchide no Mori (""Magic Forest""), Citizen's Plaza, Sunshine Beach, and Zeze Seiran no Michi."

    "Karasumaru Commemorative Park is located at the beginning of the Karasumaru Peninsula on Lake Biwa. It was built to commemorate the end of a development project. In addition to a 15-meter tall arch-shaped monument that reads ""Lake Biwa, and the Kinki Region that depends on it,"" there are 12 whimsical sculptures. Other facilities include a museum and a water garden, where visitors can enjoy learning all about Lake Biwa. Many visitors, including those with children, consider this an ideal spot for a leisurely walk."

There are number of adjacent facilities including the Maiamhama Auto Campground, tennis courts, and a ground golf course.

    A public park located in Noguchi-cho and Nukazuka-cho, Higashiomi City. The park was created to commemorate the culture of the “Man’yoshu” ancient poetry anthology in the area. Facilities include monuments inscribed with poems from the anthology, a huge relieve depicting the “Hunt of Gamouno” as described in the poems of Prince Oama and Princess Nukata, and a “Man’yo Botanical Garden” planted with some 100 varieties of plants which appear in the anthology.

    A public park located in Naka-cho, Moriyama City. The “Omi Myoren” lotuses which bloom on Myoren Pond in the park are a variety of lotus believed to have been brought back to Japan from China during the Heian period by Ennin, chief priest of the Enryakuji Temple. The flowers bloom in the thousands from July to August. These flowers, together with the pond itself, have been designated a Natural Monument by the prefecture. The Omi Myoren Lotus Park Museum is located nearby in the park.

    A public park located at the foot of Mt. Hachiman in Miyauchi-cho, Omihachiman City. The summit of the mountain is a 20-minute walk from the park. The park also has a statue of the samurai lord Toyotomi Hidetsugu, who built Hachimanyama Castle and the surrounding town, creating the foundations for the development of the region. The park is also a renowned destination for flower viewing in spring.

    A public park located close to Yokkaichi Station in Matsuo-cho, Higashiomi City. The park has an observatory with a sweeping view of the city. Some 1,000 Yoshino cherries also grow on the grounds, and the park is a popular cherry blossom viewing destination in spring.

    "A 16-minute walk from JR Shiga Station, and a 25-minute drive from the Kyoto-higashi Interchange. This park can be reached by following Prefectural Route 558 a short distance south from the station. The park is named after Shiga no Seirin, the forefather of sumo referees who is believed to have actually lived during the reign of Emperor Shomu in the first half of the eighth century. Visitors can view the grave of Shiga no Seirin on the park's grounds. The park's areas have sumo-themed names, such as squares named after the gunbai referee's fan and the common sumo chant of ""dosukoi."" There are also picture tiles in the park depicting the 48 basic techniques of sumo. The park is truly a place where visitors can enjoy all things sumo; even the sandbox in the center of the park's playground is modeled after a sumo wrestling ring."

Visitors to Shiga prefecture are almost always hopping east across the prefectural border from Kyoto, and they are almost certainly Lake Biwa-bound. Covering an area of 670 square kilometers, Lake Biwa makes up the bulk of Shiga prefecture, with beautiful lakeside paths that offer myriad walking and cycling opportunities, connecting a string of museums, shrines, and picturesque views that finally lead you to Hikone Castle on the eastern side of the lake.
