This is a public hot spring bath made of wood where reportedly Yoshida Shoin once visited, and which was opened as a hot spring heath retreat in 1731. The source spring flows from immediately behind the building, and you can enjoy fresh hot springs at any time. The hot water is milky white, and is mildly acidic, gentle to the skin. The water has the effect of promoting circulation around the whole body, so it is said to also have benefits for heart disease and hypertension. It is five-minute walk from Ryokan Seiunso Inn.

Room is larger than what I expected. 8 tatami mats plus alpha space is so enough for 2 people. Sulfurous hot spring relaxed us well. Jigoku is 15 minutes on foot from this hotel. We enjoyed...

This is a public hot spring bath in the Shinyu district of Unzen Hot Spring. You can enjoy the water flowing from the source drawn from just behind Unzen Hell springs. The baths are simple, made only of bathtubs and places to wash, but the good quality sulfur springs are attracting popularity from locals and tourists. Admission fee is a very reasonable 100 yen per adult, and 50 yen per child. It is a two-minute walk from the “Unzen Visitor Center” bus stop.

    雲仙の温泉街の入り口にあり、純和風のホテルで、男女別の浴槽が1つずつありますが、時間で男女が変わる浴室もありますが、中二階にあるので、やや分かりにくいです。

    Nagasaki Unzen-shi Obamacho Unzen
A hot spring district located in Unzen-Amakusa National Park, Japan's first national park, and one of its biggest appeals is its commanding view of Mt. Unzen and the many other 1,000 meter high mountains in the area. The area is said to have been developed as a hot spring resort some 350 years ago by a man named Kato Zenuemon and later grew and expanded as a popular destination for foreigners visiting Nagasaki as a place to escape the summer heat. The area's colorless or milky white acidic sulfur springs are strongly antibacterial and are said to aid in recovery from fatigue and promote health in addition to easing eczema, frostbite, cuts, and other ailments.

Quiet, peaceful town [good that if one can pair up with some other activities e.g to visit its mountain, Shimabara port (esp if u come from Kumamoto)] Some of the shops or the stalls that are...

    Nagasaki Unzen-shi Obamacho ‧ Minamihonmachi
A seaside hot spring district facing Tachibana Bay which boasts the hottest waters in Japan. This ancient hot spring destination, situated at the foot of Mt. Unzen, is even noted in the Hizen fudoki, a record of the area compiled in the early Nara period. From the 1900s, the area came to be seen as a health resort, and today it still generates an abundant flow of piping hot water from some 30 source springs. The area's springs contain sodium and are extremely hot, reaching 105 ° C at the source. Steam rises up from the ground everywhere in the town, and onsen-mushi, steaming foods using this hot spring steam, is a popular local activity. Hot Foot 105, a new footbath facility opened in 2010, takes its name from its 105° C source spring waters and, at 105 meters in length, it is Japan's longest hot spring footbath. There's also a footbath area designed to be walked through and a footbath area for pets.

It located next to hot foot 105. It provides free tools and guidelines for steaming foods by using local Onsen water! Foods and Onsen eggs could be bought from a nearby store! I bought souvenir...

"A long-standing hotel established in 1695 located in Unzen, Obama-cho, Unzen City. The hotel's outdoor bath and private reservable bath are constantly replenished ""kakenagashi"" style from a source spring drawn directly from the Unzen Jigoku hot spring area. The milky white waters of this spring contain an abundance of sulfur; praised for their skin beautifying properties, they are also said to promote warmth retention, aid recovery from fatigue, and treat such ailments as rheumatism and nerve pain. Guests can also enjoy the hotel's kaiseki course cuisine made with finely selected ingredients of seasonal seafood and vegetables from Shimabara; and the hotel's Western-style lobby and lounge, reminiscent of the era when the area flourished as a resort destination for wealthy travelers from abroad."

Nagasaki Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
