Their wide variety is centered around the Shibazuke style Oragamurazuke pickles, made in the style passed down in the old capital of Ohara, as well as kombu kelp and shredded daikon, eggplant, or burdock root preserved in soy sauce. Their main product, Shibazuke-fu Oragamurazuke, replaces the original eggplant with cucumbers, and pickles them along with ginger, myouga ginger, and red shiso seeds. The gentle sourness and firm cucumber combine to create an elegant taste treat. Their trademark symbol is an orange circle overlaid with an Oharame woman peddler.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
