    This Japanese sweets shop located in the Kita Ward of Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture is famous nationwide, which is why its Nama Dorayaki, which has been shown on TV and other media, sells out soon after the shop opens. Nama Dorayaki is a new type of dora-yaki sweet with several centimeters of fresh cream in addition to red bean paste sandwiched in between two sponge cakes. There are three flavors of ogura (sweet adzuki bean), matcha, and kuro-goma (black sesame) available, and the combination of red bean and cream that is not overly sweet is outstanding. In addition, they also sell popular Japanese sweets such as Oboro, which is koshi-an (fine-grained sweet bean paste) covered in warabi-mochi (bracken-starch dumpling), and Kuri-Mochi Mikasa.

    以前訪問した時は営業時間前から行列が出来ており残念ながら買えなかったが、観光客が減っている今は午前11時頃の訪問でも購入出来た。 肝心の味も美味しく、とても満足出来た。

    This Japanese sweets shop was opened in 1947. They offer a wide array of treats, from their famous Tabiyakko cookies made with plentiful black sugar from Hateruma, to fresh sweets and yokan bean jelly, monaka filled wafers and warabi mochi jelly. Their flagship product Tabiyakko got their name from the idea of a travel (tabi) snack, and the name from a servant (yakko) for a procession of daimyo lords, and they have a soft, crumbly consistency. They're made with flour, eggs and sugar, and baked to create a texture somewhere between boro cookies and castella cake. Their goods make perfect gifts, especially when wrapped in their paper featuring designs from Nihonga painter Insho Domoto.

    A Kyoto pickle specialty shop founded over 300 years ago in 1804 located just to the east of Kamigamo Shrine. The shop’s signature suguki pickles are a variety of turnip pickled via lactic acid fermentation using just salt. Together with pickled sliced radish and shibazuke pickled eggplant, suguki is considered one of the three most popular varieties of Kyoto pickles. The shop also sells other foods like tsukudani, dishes boiled and preserved in soy sauce.

    A fruit parlor located diagonally opposite Hirano-Jinja shrine Nishioji-dori Avenue. The founder, a trader working in the Kyoto Central Wholesale Market, opened Cricket out of a desire to share the delicious fruits of the world. Cricket serves seasonal fruits carefully selected by fruit pros in ways that make them even more delicious. The shop is particularly famous for its fruit jellies, made with whole oranges, grapefruits, lemons, and other fruits served in their own rinds, perfectly encapsulating their flavor.

    A specialty coffee shop located in Kita Ward, Kyoto City operating out of a 100-year-old remodeled townhome. Resembling an old-fashioned knickknack shop on the outside, the shop stands out thanks to its show window decorated with colorful cups and coffee goods. Inside, the shop owner, a certified green coffee bean judge master, roasts and sells select rare coffees from around the world. The shop also sells coffee storage cans, drippers, and other goods, as well as gifts.

    店内に入ると素敵なコーヒーの香りが充満しています。好みの味を伝えると丁寧に説明をしていただけます。小ぶりのトートバッグ、サーカス缶、とても可愛い。これを贈られると気分が上がりますね。限定のサーカス缶もありました。

    Matsuya Tobei is a Japanese-style confectionary in Kyoto's Kita Ward. It has been in business since the Edo Period (1615-1867), and every item is handmade by skilled confectioners. Its most famous sweet is Murasakino Matsukaze, made with wheat flour and miso, and it is also known for tamaorihime and kayoiji. The sweets sold here are popular gifts and souvenirs.

    松屋といえば、こちらのお品が一番に浮かびます。さっぱりとした白味噌の甘さに大徳寺納豆の塩味がアクセントになっており、とても品の良いバランスです。お店もご対応も包装も総じて落ち着き、あっさりされてみえます。こういう事が普通にサラリとできる事が、やはり、すごいです。
