"An art museum standing on Prefectural Route 372 in Wakasato, Nagano City. Specializing in Nihonga Japanese paintings, the core of the museum's collection consists of pieces assembled by businessman Masayuki Mizuno over many years. The museum houses many pieces by master modern Nihonga painters such as Yokoyama Taikan. Designed to be a facility where visitors can take their time and fully experience the beauty of Nihonga paintings, the museum is stylishly designed inside and out. A 2,300 square meter, fully fledged Japanese garden stands in front of the museum and is planted with the Kiso Goboku, ""Five Trees of the Kiso Valley"" -hinoki cypress, hiba, umbrella pine, Japanese arborvitae, and sawara cypress. This museum has exhibits on the Median Tectonic Line. It's the largest fault line in Japan running along the western half of the Japanese archipelago from Kanto to Kyushu. It's almost directly below Mt. Akaishi and the main peaks of the southern Alps near Shizuoka's prefectural border. Though it runs overland for 1,000 kilometers, this is one of the rare portions where you can observe a fault outcrop and other unique geological features. The curator will take the time to explain in detail everything from the creation of the Japanese islands to the geology of earthquakes.

複合的な文化施設サントミューゼの一角にある美術館。歴史が浅いらしく、館内はとても綺麗。あと美術館らしく、個性的な作り。日曜日に行ったが、入館者はとても少なかった。モネ、ムンク、ピカソらの作品を紹介する展覧会を開催していたのに！地方の美術館らしく、すいている。でも、他人に気兼ねすることなく、名画を鑑賞する。もったいないけど、入館者には都合が良い。

This literature museum opened in 1991 amidst the Kurohime Highland in Shinano Town, Kamiminochi County, Nagano Prefecture, and is a facility which houses and displays fairytale and picture books from across the world. There are around 2,000 items related to German author Michael Ende, famous for “Momo,” and a permanent exhibit of the collection of Japanese representative storybook writer Miyoko Matsutani. The Fairytale Forest Gallery introduces works of artists with connections to the local area. Outside is the relocated mountain villa of picture book artist Chihiro Iwasaki, and it is possible to tour inside too.

This art museum, standing amidst the lush natural beauty on the bank of Lake Suwa, was opened on April 26, 1990 by industrial robot manufacturer Harmo's founder Tomio Hama and director Takako Seki. The museum's standing exhibition consists of works of Naive art which express a free sensitivity from a pure perspective, including nine rare pieces by Henri Rousseau. The museum has gained worldwide recognition for its distinctive concept. The museum also has a cafe where you can take a relaxing break and, on clear days, see all the way to Mt. Fuji.

The Nagano Prefectural Museum of History mainly collects, repairs, and stores buried cultural properties and documents of historical value that contain research and such related to Nagano Prefecture’s history. The exhibits teach visitors about both old and modern ways of life, and there are many special exhibits as well that disseminate a lot of historical information. They also host lectures on archaeology and ancient documents. It’s about a 25-minute walk from Yashiro Station and Yashirokoko-mae Station on the Shinano Railway, or five minutes by car from the Koshoku Interchange on the Nagano Expressway.
