This is a beach lined with palm trees, and has a resort-like atmosphere with gentle wave breaking ashore. The sandy beach is illuminated at night and gets transformed into a fantastic moonlight beach. This is Japan’s first sandy beach illumination, which is produced by the world’s famous lighting designer, Motoko Ishii. The beach is authorized in “sacred place for lovers” and at the fountain at the tip of the terrace, there is a monument where lovers can pledge their love to each other.

This is the dirtiest beach in Japan. Trash in the water and on the beach. I saw a used condom on the shore. And the view is of a couple of breakwaters. The surrounding park is ok, and I think it gets...

Shizuoka Areas

around-area-map

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
