Located in Nakanojo Town, Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture, this park is famous as the birthplace of “chatsubomi-goke” —which is a type of moss that grows in acidic water. The contrast between puffed-up green moss on the rocks with the flowing water makes for a truly gorgeous scene. You can also enjoy some trekking along the pathway to Yoshigadaira Wetlands near the Anajigoku pit.

This forest park is located at the western foot of Mt. Akagi between 600 and 700 meters above sea level. Visitors can enjoy the park's gorgeous natural beauty interwoven with Japan's rich, seasonal diversity, including plants in full bloom in spring, lush greenery in summer, spectacular foliage in fall, and the reverberating cries of wild birds in winter. Aiming to achieve harmony between human beings and nature, for more than 30 years the park has worked to create an environment in which plants can grow lush and vibrant and in which insects and animals can live with ease, and today visitors can catch sight of a wide variety of plants and insects living in a state very close to untouched nature. Walking paths are covered with comfortable to walk on bark chips; and benches, chairs, and restrooms made with timber from forest thinning are placed in key locations, making it easy for visitors to take a relaxing walk in the forest and see all kinds of plants and insects.

The park was built to commemorate the Meiji centennial anniversary and became fully open to the public in 1980.

This park about 25 minutes by car from Ota-Yabuzuka Interchange offers tranquility and a lush natural setting. Its facilities include a water park, a limestone cave, a wetland botanical garden, and a campground. The area offers more fun-filled activities than you could handle in a day. We especially recommend visiting the limestone cave. It was excavated starting in 1984. Four years later the 93-meter cave was incorporated into the park. It offers visitors a mysterious world full of adventure. The botanical garden at the exit of the cave has an array of flora that change with the seasons like wild grasses and flowers.
