    This park is located on the former site of Takahama Castle, which was built during the Muromachi Period. It features a large grassy square where visitors can view the cherry blossoms in the spring. There is also a promenade leading to an observation deck from which visitors can enjoy views of Meikyodo Cave, a natural cave and one of Takahama Town’s places of scenic beauty, as well as Yana no Kisho eight rare scenic beauty, Wakasa Bay, and beyond. The sunset seen from the ruins of Shiroyama Castle has also been selected as one of Japan Sunset Best 100. The beautiful sight of the sun setting over Mt. Aoba is a must-see. Fishing on the seashore is one of the many different ways to enjoy the park.

    A park in Tentokuji, Wakasa, Mikata-kaminaka. Located near the boundary of Tentokuji Temple it consists of the forested area surrounding Uriwari Falls, chosen as one of the Hundred Best Famous Waters. You can enjoy the abundant nature of the different seasons, including nearly 10,000 hydrangeas that bloom in June. In August they hold the Wakasa Uriwari Meisui Festival.

    A park located in Chigadaira, Echizen Town, Nyu Country, Fukui Prefecture. Visitors can view daffodils which bloom on the grounds from November through March. There’s also a hall with a daffodil garden in the center of the park where you can see daffodils flowering year-round. Other highlights include the Cape Echizen Lighthouse and an observatory.

The park contains Asuwayama Amusement Park which includes a zoo and athletic facilities, as well as Fukui Natural History Museum, a broadcast tower, a cafe, and more. It's famous for its cherry blossoms in the spring when nearly 3,500 trees come into bloom.

    "The ""Yuri no Sato"" park, home to150,000 lilies, is famous for its ""Yuri Lily Festa"" held every June, and is a popular spot visited by 90,000 people every year. Project mapping, as well as over 60,000 underwater lights and LED lights, are used to create a water and sound production and an atmosphere of fantasy within the park. This event is held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the evening. The park is great for families and includes an adventure playground and slides. There is also an area where visitors can enjoy a barbecue in the great outdoors (advance reservations are required)."

    The only spot along the Sea of Japan famous for azaleas, Nishiyama Park is known for its roughly 50,000 azaleas, and is invigorated with many visitors who come during the “Tsutsuji Festival” held early May each year. There are other events too, like the “Momiji Festival” in fall and the “Sabae Snow Festival” in winter.

    This park is popular for its amazing views from the eastern observation deck of the Mikata-goko Lakes, which were designated as a Ramsar Site in 2005. The park’s rose garden, which has more than 600 roses of 110 varieties, is a must-see. The best viewing periods are May 20 to June 20 in spring and October 20 to November 20 in the fall.

    This park, which boasts around 120 types of flowering lotus including the Oga lotus which has been revived after 2,000 years, holds a Lotus Flower Festival from the end of June to the middle of August. The lotus flowers usually bloom during this period and many people come to enjoy the flowers. The park’s pavilion is a refined Nanbokucho period samurai residence-style made from Japanese cypress produced in Minami Echizen-cho.

    A park in Kitagata, Awara City. The park is located on the shore of Lake Kitagata and features a cycling course. At the cycling terminal they rent road bikes alongside a variety of other interesting types of bicycles, small electric cars, and paddle boats.

    A park along National Route 364 in Yamaguchi, Maruoka-cho, Sakai City. The park is marked by the two largest waterwheels in the Hokuriku region with diameters of eight meters and five meters and in the park you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of a mountain village surrounded by nature. Along with a melody chime that rings out every 30 minutes the park has a shop selling locally grown produce and a restaurant, La Clarte, which serves dishes cooked over a wood stove.

    A park located along Prefectural Route 235 in Obamakatori, Obama City. An observation platform has been constructed facing Obama Bay and gives a great view over the city, Uchitomi Peninsula, and Oshima Peninsula. In spring the nearly 150 cherry trees planted in the park come into blossom and a special Sakura Cherry Blossom Festival is held with evening illuminations of the trees.

    A plant nursery in Ya, Ono City. A promenade wanders through the nearly 3 ha grounds where over 1 million dogtooth violets grow naturally and throughout the seasons you can also enjoy other flowers including cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and red buckwheat flowers amongst others. From mid-March to mid-April they hold the Dogtooth Violet Festival with a variety of special events.

    A park located within Echizen Pottery Village in Ozowara, Echizen Town, Nyu County. The park features a ceramics area with 15 pieces of Echizen-ware pottery by artists such as Okamoto Taro and Isamu Noguchi as well as maintained pathways and lawn areas. A variety of events are held throughout the seasons including the Echizen Pottery Festival held in late May every year. Located next to the park are facilities including the Fukui Prefectural Museum of Ceramics and the Echizen Old Kiln Museum.
  • Kanegasaki Ryokuchi Park

    A park in Kanegasaki-cho, Tsuruga City. Located looking out at Tsuruga Port the park has both a boardwalk and a board deck making this a great place to take a seaside stroll. Also located within the park is the Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum, which displays materials related to Jewish refugees who fled from Europe to Tsuruga Port during World War 2 as well as the Former Tsuruga Port Station Building, which is now a railway museum.

    A park in Kunimimoto-machi, Fukui City. It's located situated over the summit of Mt. Kunimidake at an elevation of 656 meters and looks out over the Echizen coast and the Fukui Plain. It's equipped with maintained paths, lawn areas, and observation platforms, as well as campsites and bungalows. On weekends and holidays barbeque pits are available for rent (reservation required).

    A park in Sanai-cho, Fukui City. Present are graves for Sanai Hashimoto who was found by Shungaku Matsudaira, former ruler of the Echizen Province, Fukui Domain to be very talented for politics at a young age, and participated in the clan administration. However he was executed during the Ansei Purge at the end of the Edo period. The Bozensai Festival is held annually on October 7th, the anniversary of his death. There is also a bronze statue of Sanai Hashimoto.

Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
