    Located among gentle hills, this largest zoo in the prefecture is home to over 200 popular animal species (1,600 total animals), including koalas, lesser pandas, and capybaras. There are lots of activities to try too, like riding ponies, petting monkeys and marmosets, and milking animals. You can watch the cute capybaras play in a rock bath during winter.

    Japan’s first National Park. It was created as part of the centennial celebration of the Meiji Restoration. Roughly three million square meters in size—enough to fit about sixty-five Tokyo Domes—the park includes Japan’s largest air trampoline, a playground, athletic equipment, a barbeque spot, an area for viewing all kinds of plant life, from cherry trees to camellia and plum trees. There is also a cycling course and other facilities. You can enjoy them all regardless of age all day in the park.

In the park, moss phlox with more than some 400,000 plants from nine varieties are cultivated over about 17,600 square meters, and red, pink and white moss phlox flowers cover the whole area in spring like a patchwork of flowers.
