    This historic district recreates the castle town around Kofu Castle as it appeared in the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa periods. Visitors can enjoy shopping, dining, visiting art museums, and more in the retro atmosphere created by cobbled roads, stores located inside transplanted old folk homes, a reproduction of the hour bell that informed residents of the time for over two centuries, and other attractions. The area is conveniently located adjacent to Kofu Station's north gate.

You can enjoy view of the 800,000 shiba-zakura cherry trees (the most in Japan) and Mt. Fuji. In the event area, the Fujisan Umaimono Festival is held at the same time, leading to great fun.

    This mountain rest house, located at the fifth and final station of the Fuji Subaru Line, sits at an altitude of 2,305 meters. It is well known for its great up-close views of Mt. Fuji and as a place to start a climb of the mountain. It offers local delicacies, original Mt. Fuji-themed cuisine, a selection of souvenirs including Mt. Fuji merchandise, information on the mountain, and more. The rest house's post office cancels the postage of mail sent from the station with an exclusive commemorative stamp.

  • Nishizawa Gorge Forest Railroad Junction

    These are the remains of a former railroad in Mitomikawaura, Yamanashi City that carried lumber until 1968. It was known as the Sanen Railroad because it hauled its cargo along the Nishizawa Gorge from Mitomi Village (now a part of Yamanashi City) to Enzan City (now a part of Koshu City). Currently a hiking course runs along the former path of the railroad. Visitors can hike through a rich natural setting that includes large colonies of rhododendron and waterfalls. Many hikers visit the area during the rhododendron blooming season in May and during the fall foliage season.

    This firefly habitat is about a ten-minute drive from Shimobeonsen-Hayakawa Interchange on the Chubu-Odan Expressway. It is one only a few habitats in Japan where genji-botaru (Luciola cruciata) reproduce naturally. The habitat is located in the Isshiki District of Minobu Town a short distance from Shimobe Onsen, which is known for having been one of the private hot springs of the feudal lord Takeda Shingen. Countless genji-botaru fireflies dance in the air here from late May to late June. A visitor's center, the Isshiki Hotaru Information Center, is located in the district. The Isshiki Firefly Festival held on a Saturday in early to mid June features booths selling local specialties, concerts, and other attractions. Many people come across the country to attend the festival.

    This hands-on craft workshop is located near the Inaridaimyojin Shrine about a seven-minute walk from the Sarumawashi Gekijo-mae bus stop and about a 15-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. Visitors can create their own original works of silver clay pottery while receiving direct instruction from a professional artisan. Two of the experiences, hand-built pottery and making silver accessories with UV epoxy resin and silver clay, are available for a limited time only. Reservations for hand-built pottery experiences must be made at least one day in advance. Visitors can take the silver accessories they create home with them that day. While the workshop accepts reservations by both phone and e-mail, last minute reservations are only accepted by phone.

    This beach on the northwest shore of Lake Saiko is about a five-minute walk from the Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nenba bus stop or about a 20-minute drive from Kawaguchiko Interchange. It is most notable for its view of Mt. Fuji looming large beyond the Aokigahara Forest. Seeing Lake Saiko, one of the Five Fuji Lakes formed when an eruption completely changed the area's terrain, juxtaposed with the Sea of Trees can remind one of the threats that nature can pose. While Mt. Fuji is of course a sight to behold during the daytime, it becomes an exceptionally beautiful sight during a sunset.

    Located a one-minute walk from the Oniwa bus stop or a 50-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. A picturesque location at the head of the mountain trail close to the bus stop at the 5th Station on the Fuji Subaru Line. Heading up the mountain is Oniwa, while heading down the mountain is Okuniwa. Near the staircase which connects to the walking trail is an entrance to one of Mt. Fuji's parasite volcanoes. Larch can be seen here and there on the bare volcanic gravel giving it the appearance of a spreading Japanese garden. At an altitude of 2400 meters it's also the tree line. From here you can see the summit of Mt. Fuji from up close and the sunset view is spectacular.

    Located a one-minute walk from the Oniwa bus stop or a 50-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko Interchange. A picturesque location at the head of the mountain trail close to the bus stop at the 5th Station on the Fuji Subaru Line. Heading up the mountain is Oniwa, while heading down the mountain is Okuniwa. It's also known as the Tengu Playground and you can still see the Torii gate and Tengu boulder. On either side of the pathway you can see Japanese larch and northern Japanese hemlock which have survived the wind and snow. From mid to late July is the best time to visit to see the Hakusan rhododendron. From the observation platform you can see Shichitaro Ridge as well as the Komitake volcano.
  • Kotagawa Hotaru no Sato

    Located a 20-minute drive from the Nirasaki Interchange or a 20-minute bus ride from Nirasaki Station. This natural park is on the grounds of Yanagihara Shrine, a short distance after turning north at the intersection, the west side of the Sansonkyo Bridge over the Shio River. Kotagawa was chosen by the Ministry of the Environment as one of the 100 Historic Animal Villages and if you visit in mid-June you can watch the Genji-botaru fireflies. There's also the Kotagawa Firefly Festival where along with watching the fireflies there are classes on making your own hand-made fire-fly basket as well as other special events.

    A hands-on workshop in Kiyosato no Mori Park. You can try a variety of creation techniques across their three facilities including a Ceramics Hall, Woodworking Hall, and Community Hall. In the silver accessories class you'll use a silver clay that turns pure silver when baked allowing you to make creations including rings and pendants. In the pottery workshops you can make your own tea cups and mugs. In the woodworking classes you can make creations such as music boxes, wall hanging clocks, and magnets from Japanese larch. All come from prefabricated kits so that even those as young as elementary schools can enjoy themselves. All the classes have fixed dates and can be signed up for same day.

The summit affords a 360° view of the surrounding countryside, and climbers can enjoy ever-changing scenes, so this is a popular mountain. Early summer brings lovely azalea blossoms to Kokushigahara on the mountain slopes.

    This forest spreads across a 1542-meter elevation hill emerging as an isolated part of the eastern ridge of Mt. Akadake. Complete with a parking lot, tourist information center, and an observation deck, you can easily enjoy some flower-viewing, strolling, or hiking.

    普通自転車と電動アシスト付き自転車が、ここで借りられます。 私は甲斐一宮浅間神社まで普通自転車を借りて行きましたが、電動アシスト付き自転車なら山の上の方に有る「フルーツパーク」や「ほったらかし温泉」へも楽に行くことが出来ます。 電車で山梨市へ行くなら利用しない手はないと思います。

    すずらんの里祭りの期間中は、ここから群生地までの無料送迎バスが発着します。河口湖駅や石和温泉駅からバスで来て、ここで乗り換えて群生地に向かうことになります。今回は、黒岳の登山と兼ねてすずらんを見に来ました。ここでは農産物の直売以外にもうどんなどの軽食を販売していますので登山前の腹ごしらえが出来ます。明るく元気な地元のおばさんを見るとこちらも元気づけられます。

    少し古いかんじの住宅でした、縄文土器は使用されていません。縄文文化の北杜市期待してたので、やや拍子抜けでございました。きのこも有名な村ですから。
