    Gokayama Washi-no-sato (Traditional Paper-making Workshop) is the alternative name for Road Station Taira, a roadside rest area in Gokayama village, Toyama Prefecture. Gokayama Washi-no-sato features a “Washi Paper Craft Hall” that presents the history of traditional Japanese paper-making, which has been an important industry in Gokayama since ancient times, as well as a “Paper-making Experience Hall” where visitors can try making Gokayama-style paper for themselves inside a traditional Gasshozukuri-style farmhouse (experiential activities can be booked on the day of your visit). There is also a retail area selling local specialty products, a restaurant, etc., making this a great place to drop by while driving in the area.

    Located in Himi City in Toyama Prefecture, famous for its Himi kanburi (winter yellowtail fish), Himi Banya-gai Harbour Market is a tourist facility which doubles as a roadside station. There are more than 30 establishments here ensuring more than enough for visitors, from shopping to food and hot spring baths. Many tourists come here to take advantage of the many things on offer such as the kaiten-zushi restaurant where guests can enjoy fish direct from Himi Port, gourmet food unique to the local area, fresh local fish, processed seafood products, and souvenirs. Be sure not to miss the spectacular Tateyama Mountains visible across the sea. Visitors to Himi Banya-gai Harbour Market can also enjoy the natural hot spring waters of Himi Onsen.

    The Come On Park Shinminato roadside rest area has aquarium tanks where visitors can view fish and White Prawns from Toyama Bay. The local produce corner, where visitors can buy white prawns (which are a Shinminato specialty) and other marine products, and the Early Morning Market which is held on Saturdays and Sundays from April to December, are very popular. The restaurant serves a variety of white prawn cuisine. The Come On Park Shinminato is located around 15-minute drive from the Kosugi Interchange of the Hokuriku Expressway.

The facility also offers a dog park where you can let your pup off the leash, as well as foot baths. The tourist rental bikes available at the station make it a convenient hub for sightseeing in the city.
