In addition to a shop selling fresh local produce, local specialties and processed goods from Yoshino Town, there is an on-site bakery offering fresh-baked bread, a restaurant that serves set meals, donburi rice bowls, and light meals, and a tourist information center. Its attractive building makes great use of Yoshino cedar wood.

    谷間の国道沿いにある小さな道の駅。 このあたり、なかなか休める場所がないので、駐車場もトイレもあるこの道の駅は貴重です。ヤマザキの売店があって、おにぎりやパン、お菓子、地元のお土産なんかを売ってます。川の反対側には日帰り温泉もあります。

    ここは徹底して地場の野菜にこだわっている。まるで、JAのスーパーかと思うほど。もちろん種々の奈良の土産物もあるし、イートインの充実もあって、多くの人々で賑わっている。すぐ近くに柿の葉すしのたなかもあるから、立ち寄るにはいい場所だと思う。駐車場から高速へ直結というのもユニークだね。

    法隆寺に向かう途中の国道沿いに、道の駅大和路へぐりがありました。その道の駅の物産館的なところが、くまがしステーションです。 奈良の特産品、特に、農産品が多く並んでいました。試食にあった、地元の味噌が美味しかったです。ここにあった白いイチゴを買ってみました。甘さはまあまあでしたが、見た目の白さが新鮮でした。

    奈良から那智勝浦に抜ける国道168号線沿いにある道の駅です。交通量が元々少ない道路のために、駐車スペースやトイレや売店などは大きくありません。しかし、ここから那智勝浦方面は険しい山道になる上、十津川の道の駅の駐車場も狭いこともあって、ここでトイレ休憩を挟むのにはいい立地ではないでしょうか。 那智勝浦からの帰りには日没後に通過しましたが、途中にコンビニの類はないこともあって、売店、レストランが閉店し...

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
