This is a tourist information center in front of Asuka Station, Asuka Village. As well as providing support for local tourism, they also sell souvenirs. Inside the building there is a wall painting depicting the four Gods (said to rule over the four directions) which are a blue dragon, vermilion bird, white tiger, and black tortoise with Kitora tumulus as a motif.

There are a couple of English items available here. The staff is very helpful and helped me plan my walk-around to see the major sites. Souvenirs, snacks and drinks are available. Next door is a...

A tourist information center near Nara Station housed within the former station building built in 1934. As well as searching for things to do on the tablet devices, there are baggage storage facilities, multifunctional toilets, a nursing room and a cafe. It’s a convenient first stop for tourists from abroad with language support in English, Chinese and Korean, foreign exchange machines and a prayer room.

We were looking for more things to do in Nara after seeing everything there is at the Nara Park and met this man at the Nara Tourist Information. He was very helpful and volunteered to take us on an...

This is an information center at the entrance of the road approaching the Horyu-ji Temple. It provides tourist information and information about Horyu-ji Temple, as well as the history and culture of the local Ikaruga-no-Sato area. This tourist information center located in Handayokomachi, Nara City is jointly operated by area residents and the local government. The center has been in its current location, a renovated historic police box, since 1928.

Naramachi Information Center is a great place to get information on places of interest, historic sites, restaurants, and shops. It also holds a morning market starting at 8 a.m. every second Saturday where you can buy fresh vegetables and other ingredients from Yoshino, making it a popular spot in its own right. The center also has a shop that sells products from the Yoshino region, including disposable chopsticks made from Yoshino cedar and cypress, local honey, and rice crackers. There is even a bicycle rental service.

    奈良町界隈の入り口に、情報館があります。 奈良全体の案内や資料はもちろんですが、奈良町や、元興寺などについての資料や情報がたくさんあります。 是母立ち寄って情報入手してみてください。

Nara Main Areas

around-area-map

With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of “traditional Japan.” The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture's treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains' Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
