- This is an information center at the entrance of the road approaching the Horyu-ji Temple. It provides tourist information and information about Horyu-ji Temple, as well as the history and culture of the local Ikaruga-no-Sato area. The center houses a display of a miniature model of the Horyu-ji Temple, and has an information counter and a multipurpose room.

- This is a tourist information center in front of Asuka Station, Asuka Village. As well as providing support for local tourism, they also sell souvenirs. Inside the building there is a wall painting depicting the four Gods (said to rule over the four directions) which are a blue dragon, vermilion bird, white tiger, and black tortoise with Kitora tumulus as a motif.

時節柄、観光客が激減しており観光案内所の利用者もごく僅かとなっていました。それでも施設運営はきちんと行われており、パンフレット類の中から興味あるモノを調達出来ました。 因みに、「道の駅飛鳥」記念きっぷは此処で購入出来ました。

- Naramachi Information Center is a great place to get information on places of interest, historic sites, restaurants, and shops. It also holds a morning market starting at 8 a.m. every second Saturday where you can buy fresh vegetables and other ingredients from Yoshino, making it a popular spot in its own right. The center also has a shop that sells products from the Yoshino region, including disposable chopsticks made from Yoshino cedar and cypress, local honey, and rice crackers. There is even a bicycle rental service.

奈良町の入口あたりにある観光案内所。観光案内のほか、お土産なども販売されています。近鉄奈良駅から徒歩15分ほど。このあたりから南が旧来の奈良町のようです。

国宝の東大寺転外門のすぐそばにある観光案内所。この辺りは、観光客のメインルートではないのだが、なぜかここに案内所がある。この建物はかつての南都銀行手貝支店で、昭和47年に移転されるまで現役だったというから驚き。

- This historic structure, once used as a drugstore and dentist's office, was remodeled and made open to the general public in 2003. A traditional Japanese townhouse outfitted with heavy latticework, windows covered with fine latticework, and a chimney, today it serves three roles: As a remodeled example of old fashioned architecture in area with traditional townscape, as an information center providing information on destinations one can walk to in the area, and as a community center supporting development in the area.

宇陀松山城の城下町として栄えた古い町並みが残る宇陀市大宇陀の松山地区。その街並みを貫く通りのほぼ真ん中に、まちづくりセンター千軒舎がありました。 この建物も、歴史を感じる古い建物で、明治時代前期に造られた、伝統的な町家です。もともと薬屋、歯科医院として使われていた内藤家住宅を改修したもので、無料開放されていました。

- Musokan is a tourist information center located in Kamitosa, Takatori Town, Takaichi County. The information center is housed within a refurbished kimono shop from the Meiji period. Musokan can be used as a base for sightseeing around Takatori Castle Ruins, and also has special products on sale, an exhibition display, a gallery, and a free resting area, etc. It’s a great place to take a quick break and enjoy a free cup of roasted green tea.

さすが、桜の名所ですね。近鉄の吉野駅を出ると、ほぼ満開に近い吉野の桜が出迎えてくれました。その駅前の右手にあったのが、吉野町観光案内所です。吉野の山のお散歩マップをいただいて、それを見ながら桜が咲く吉野の山を楽しむことができました。 この観光案内所のすぐ横にはポストがありました。その絵柄が桜なんです。桜ポストも吉野らしくて、写真スポットにもいいですね。

道の駅 吉野路大塔のパーキングがいっぱいでお迎えに駐車。 結果オーライで食事が出来ました。 古民家で雰囲気は抜群。 めはりすし、ジビエのカレー。 注文してから結構時間かかります。 でも美味しかったです。

天川川合バス停を降りるとすぐ目の前にあります。 ここでみたらい渓谷の地図・洞川自然研究路の地図・ウオーキングマップ裏が洞川温泉ぐる-りマップをもらって、ハイキングのスタートです。 バスの時刻表のプリントアウトもあります。 いろいろ親切に教えていただけます。

郡山の町中にある観光案内所で、隣接する建物が郡山のプチ博物館になっていて、ボランティアガイドの説明を聞くことができました。訪問時のテーマは焼き物で、戦国末期の赤膚焼きや製法が解明されいない幻の焼き物「雲崋焼き」の詳しい説明を聞くことができた。

Nara Areas
With a reputation almost as stellar as that of Kyoto, Nara is a must-visit for those searching for the remains of "traditional Japan." The largely green Nara city holds the majority of the prefecture’s treasures, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, in which a 15-meter tall Great Buddha sits, and Nara Park, where deer flock to befriend passersby. While mountains are by no means hard to come by in this area, for hiking with a reward, head to the Kii Mountains’ Yoshino district in spring, when the hillsides put on an impressive display of white and pink cherry blossoms.
