This museum, located along the Jomo-Sanzan Panorama Road in Ikaho, Ikaho Town, is dedicated to Meiji-period writer Roka Tokutomi. In addition to permanent exhibits featuring various personal artifacts and materials belonging to Roka Tokutomi, whose famed work “Hototogisu” is the source of the Ikaho Ropeway station name, there are also planned exhibits and tea ceremony events held in the writer’s honor, among other events.

明治から大正にかけて活躍した小説家徳富蘆花の文学館です。伊香保を愛し、臨終の地とした、徳富蘆花に関する多くの資料の展示があります。蘇峰との和解の件等は戦前文学マニアにはたまらないですね。

原生林・自然林に囲まれた利根川最上流部にあるダムです。春は新緑・夏はリゾート気分でカヌー・ボート・キャンプなどが楽しめ、秋は美しく染める紅葉などが見られます。丸い建物は資料館とお茶をしたり軽食が食べられる展望台を兼ねていました。「ダムカレー」美味しそう！

A cultural facility built to support art and culture activities in Maebashi City. The facility makes use of a former commercial complex located in the heart of the city. In addition to hold irregular special exhibitions, the facility holds art tours and workshops which can be enjoyed by everyone from small children to senior citizens. In the facility's archive, you can view records of its activities as well as books on the arts. The adjoining cafe serves seasonal coffees and tasty sweets prepared by a patissier. The museum shop sells colorful art merchandise.

元セゾン系デパートの空き家を改築した市立現代美術館。上層階は駐車場で利用者は3時間無料のため、市街地での買い物や食事も楽々。カフェやショップも併設。

This museum is located in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, 20 minutes' walk from the Tobu Isesaki Line's Serada Station. The exhibits center around the achievements of Nitta clan during the medieval period, and the historical materials of the Nittanosho ruins, which is made up of eleven ruins. The museum preserves this cultural heritage of Ota City. Its permanent exhibits include an ancient falconer terra-cotta figurine, medieval Shiraito armor, and a modern ink painting depicting a cat. In front of the museum, there is also a statue of Yoshisada Nitta, and in a nearby historical park, there are historical sites such as the Shingonin ido (well) and the Tosho-gu shrine.

以前訪問した時は改修工事で閉館していましたが、今回は入館しました。新田荘歴史資料館は、太田市歴史公園内にあり、立地や館名からして平安時代-江戸時代の展示があるものだと思っていましたが、旧石器時代-昭和時代の太田市に関する展示がありました。展示室内は写真撮影不可ですが、エントランスはOKでした。エントランスには大河ドラマ「太平記」で使用した鎧兜が展示されていました。

Gunma Tone-gun Minakamimachi Sarugakyo Onsen 1144

A historic location located along the Okutone Yukemuri Highway in Sarugakyo Onsen, Minakami Town, Tone County. This is the site of the former Sekisho gate point established by the Edo Shogunate in 1631 to monitor the travel of people and commerce along the Mikuni-Kaido Road. The attached former government housing building now serves as a museum open to the public where materials including old travel permits are on display.

猿ヶ京温泉の入口あたりにあります。上毛高原駅-湯宿温泉経由のバスでも行けます。「関所跡」バス停を降りると目の前です。当時の関所と役宅の跡地を利用して資料館化した施設です。時間の都合で中は見ていないのですが、通りかかったら茅葺屋根の建物だけでも見ておく価値はあると思います。

Gunma Agatsuma-gun Tsumagoimura Hoshimata 2401 Manza Onsen

横手山を通過し、一部有料道路を通って万座温泉のこの施設へ。周囲には白い噴煙があがる斜面や硫黄の臭いがする場所もあります。情報館の入館料は無料。このあたりの動植物や火山を含む地理が詳しく説明されています。展示には工夫がされていて、とてもわかりやすくなっています。子どもたちの遠足や校外学習に最適な施設です。

A literature museum located within Tsutsujigaoka Park #2 in Shiro-machi, Tatebayashi City. On display are materials related to Tatebayashi local novelist Tayama Katai. Through his masterpieces 'Futon' and 'Inaka Kyoshi (Country Teacher)' as well as letters, diaries, and a number of mementos you can learn about the author's life and achievements.

明治の終りに「田舎教師」などを執筆した小説家田山花袋は館林の出身。そんな関係で同じく館林出身の日本初の女性宇宙飛行士、向井千秋さんのこども科学館の隣に、田山花袋記念文学館がありました。入館料は210円。道向かいには田山花袋の旧宅もありますので、併せて見学することをお勧めします。

Founded in 1885, this shop is the birthplace of “toge-no-kama meshi” —a famous ekiben (bento lunch sold at a station) of Gunma Prefecture. Located close to Yokokawa Station, you can enjoy a meal in a nice old-fashioned cafeteria. There are plenty of set meals to try, including soba, udon, katsu-don, and of course the famous “toge-no-kama meshi.” Nearby is a historical resources museum covering the history of “oginoya” and Yokokawa Station.

This museum exhibits the artifacts found during excavations in the former Kamahara Village, which was buried by the eruption of Mt. Asama in 1783. You can also see a projection mapping demonstrating the transition of the eruption and a model of a restored face of a body found on the stone steps of the Kannon-do Hall. Related videos are always shown in the audiovisual room. On the second floor, there is an introduction of the history concerning cabbage, a specialty of Tsumagoi Village, etc. You can enjoy great views of Mt. Asama and Mt. Shirane from the observation room.

鎌原観音堂、嬬恋村郷土資料館、嬬恋村地域交流センター、延命寺跡、などなど見どころ満載でした。駐車場も無料で立ち寄りやすいです。食事処水車で食事、ソフトクリームを食べ旅の疲れを取りいざ日本のポンペイ、歴史跡を見学致しました。

Gunma Tone-gun Minakamimachi Tsukiyono 1814-1

A museum located along Prefectural route 271 in Tsukiyono, Minakami Town, Tone County. It's located in the vicinity of the national designated Yase Historic Site where there are preserved archaeological remains of dwellings dating back to the Jomon period and the prefectural designated Nashinokidaira-Shikiishi Archaeological Site. On display are historical records and materials including archaeological finds. Come see relics from the Jomon and Yayoi periods as well as historical documents that relate to the local area.

上毛高原駅から歩いて5分。月夜野は、みなかみ市に合併する前の町名です。近くで発掘された土器類や利根川の上流の山の暮らしを思い起こさせる生活道具など。地元のアイデンティティをいろいろ模索しているような感じです。

Gunma Pref. Tonegunminakamimachi Sarugakyouonsen 1150-1

This old-fashioned house of entertainment is located in Sarugakyo Onsen, approximately 20 minutes from the Kan’etsu Expressway Tsukiyono Interchange, on National Route 17. It has collected and preserved over 500 folktales and around 2,000 Kamishibai plays, including those from before the war. It uses a half-scale reproduction of Nozokikarakuri, picture scrolls that tell the tale of Taketori Monogatari, a shadow play of the local folk tale, the Kappa’s Medicine, and other plays to teach visitors about the history of Kamishibai plays. Visitors can also watch videos and hear the stories told by the storytellers of Minwa no irori (fireplace).

黄金バットから最近のものまで、実演による紙芝居が見られるので、幅広い世代が楽しめます。また、のぞきからくりや影絵も楽しめます。語りべの方のビデオには、引き込まれます。

A museum located along Prefectural Route 33 in Harunasan-machi, Takasaki City. On display are primarily materials related to the Mt. Haruna faith which has been deeply rooted in the region for a long time. It tracks the origin and history of the faith as gleaned from the precious historical materials remain at Haruna Jinja Shrine and you can learn about the Haruna Gatherings that spread amongst the local commoners during the Edo period as well as the architecture of the shrine and the local festivals and rites.

１９８５年、旧榛名町の歴史、民俗資料の収集・保存・展示を目的に開館されたそうです。榛名神社の宝物や古文書、宿坊に残る資料などで榛名山信仰の歴史を学ぶことができます。また、養蚕・製糸に関する資料や農耕資料、地域の歴史・民俗資料も展示されています。バス停に近く、バスの待ち時間の活用もできます。

This history museum showcases the culture of Shimonita Town. It has displays on the town's history as well as the changes of its citizens' lives over the years. You can also learn about kozo mulberry and mitsumata, cultivated in Shimonita Town to make traditional washi paper. From the late Meiji period to the early Showa period, the area was also an important sericulture center that gave rise to the Tomioka Silk Mill. The museum has materials related to the Arafune Cold Storage which used naturally chilled air to preserve silkworm eggs. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2014.

A museum in Zama Azuma-cho, Midori City. The museum honors local lyricist Ishihara Wasaburo known for nursery rhymes such as 'Usagi to Kame (The Bunny and the Turtle)' and the permanent exhibition includes photographs, and manuscripts as well as panels of nursery rhymes. The building also has the Family Hall, a multipurpose hall that can accommodate up to 400 people, the Ninjin Cafe, and a shop as well as a picture book area in the lobby.

A museum located along Prefectural Route 46 in Obata, Kanra Town, Kanra County. The museum is located within the Former Obata-gumi Seishi Brick Warehouse, a cocoon warehouse built during the Taisho period by the Kanra-sha Obata-gumi silk-reeling union during the golden age of the sericultural industry. Most of the displays concern the local sericultural industry but also displayed are historical materials including armor and a wood statue of the Buddha carved in the early Edo period by Busshi Enku, a sculptor of Buddhist images.

The museum's collection contains precious historical materials and work of art handed down through generations of the Okabe family, a local family of wealthy merchants. In each of the three exhibition rooms, based around the themes of Coloring your Life, Tools of Life, and Local Authors, you can learn about the history, lifestyles, and culture of the region.

The museum is located in Sarugakyo Onsen, Minakami-machi, Tone-gun, and exhibits materials related to Akiko Yosano, a poet who frequently visited Sarugakyo Onsen, Mizukami Onsen, Yuhiso Onsen, and other hot spring resorts in Okutone, as well as materials related to poems she composed during her travels and other literary figures such as Makisui Wakayama and Hakushu Kitahara.

It's built over the former site of the Sukawa Lodging Waki-Honjin (A Honjin was lodging used by traveling lords and this building was used as reserve lodging) along the former Mikuni-Kaido Road. With nearly 1000 exhibits on display including historical documents you can learn about the history of the region as it flourished in the role of a post-station town.

A museum located along National Route 291 in Yubara, Minakami Town, Tone County. On display are archaeological materials dating as far back as the Jomon period as well as local folk materials including daily lifestyle tools dating from the Meiji period onwards. An Edo period farm house, the Former Tobe Family Residence, has been moved to the museum grounds and restored and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
