The Akagi-jinja Shrine is located at the top of Mt. Akagi. It has been known as a mountain where gods have resided since ancient times. Mt. Akagi is the main enshrined deity and Akagi Daimyojin is worshiped as the god of the lake. On the first Saturday of August, the Soke, or Grand Master, in charge of Ogasawara style Japanese horseback archery etiquette and his disciples hold a Japanese archery dedicatory match. At night, paper lanterns are set adrift in a ceremony called Toronagashi accompanied by a firework display and every year many tourists visit the festival. This shrine is located on Mt. Myogi’s eastern foothills in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture. It received considerable adoration from the Tokugawa shoguns, as it is located to the north-west of Edo, representing the calm Inui Tenmon gate. Built in 537, the exquisite black-lacquered main hall is a national Important Cultural Property. The area is famous for weeping cherry trees in spring and fall leaves in autumn.

We went here to get our new car blessed, for safe driving and hopefully to not have accidents. We requested the praying before hand, then after submitting payment, we entered the inner shrine. The...

The main hall of Ichinomiya Nukisaki-jinja Shrine, with a history of 1,500 years, became a National Important Cultural Property in 1912. The god believed to have founded Japan, Futsunushinokami, and Himeohkami, guardian deity of sericulture and weaving are enshrined here. Futsunushinokami is famous because his name also appears in the Nihon Shoki, the Chronicle of Japan. There are many highlights to see including the worship hall and tower gate which were registered as national Important Cultural Property in 1976. It is approximately 20 minutes by car from Tomioka Interchange on the Joshinetsu Expressway.

This shrine is one of the Toshogu halls in which Tokugawa Ieyasu venerated the Tosho Daigongen, and is located in Serada Town, Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, a place with connections to the Tokugawa family. The grounds include a gorgeous worship hall designated as a National Important Cultural Property, a main hall, and a karamon gate. The Gokokumon Gate (“Enmusubi-mon”)—said to be good for forging better relationships—is worth a look.

They are Honoikazuchi no Okami, Oikazuchi no Okami and Wakeikazuchi no Okami. It is the head Raiden shrine of the Kanto area. It is said that Prince Shotoku establishing a shrine in the small island of Inara Swamp, in the time of Empress Suiko, was how this Raiden Shrine came to be. This mysterious construction can only be seen in seven places in the whole of Japan, so the main shrine was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the prefecture. The highlight of the shrine is the carving made by Tsunehachi Ishihara, the 10th generation maser of Jingoro Hidari. It is said to be the best architectural sculpture masterpiece of the Edo Period.

This Shinto shrine deifies Sugawara no Michizane. It's one of the five great Tenjin shrines of the Kanto area. People worshiped there for its protective powers around 1187 when Kiryu clan controlled the surrounding area, but it became Kiryu Tenmangu Shrine around 1350 when the god from Kyoto's Kitano Tenmangu Shrine was merged with it. Sugawara no Michizane is a god of scholarship, and as there are many schools in the area, the grounds fill with students who come to pray. It is also known as god of traffic safety and secure travel. The shrine is designated as a Gunma Prefecture Important Cultural Property.

"This shrine is located in Shimooyamachi, Maebashi City. The main enshrined deity is Konohana Sakuyahime no Mikoto, who worshippers come to pray to from both inside and outside the prefecture for safe delivery and child rearing. There are three places in the grounds for people to pray for safe deliveries. These prayers are accepted on any day, not just the ""Day of the Dog"". There is a prayer for easy delivery that is likened to a ladle for drinking water that has no bottom, so the child will simply slip out. Currently, the two rocks pregnant women can walk between for safe deliveries are off-limits, and worshippers can only visit the shrine."
