    This museum that opened in 2011 is located inside Morioka Castle Park in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. You can see exhibited documents related to the history and culture of Morioka. In addition, it regularly holds various events such as workshops, seasonal events and Morioka Sansa Odori performances. It is not only visited by local residents but also many tourists.

    A museum dedicated to Takuboku Ishikawa and Kenji Miyazawa. These two historic figures spent their youths in Morioka City during the Meiji and Taisho periods, and the museum presents materials relating to Morioka City during those times. The museum building, completed in 1910, was once the Dai Kuju Bank head office and is designated a National Important Cultural Property.

    This museum introduces the castle town of Tono. In the Edo period, the area flourished as a castle town under the lordship of Tono Nanbu, of Mutsu Province. The museum, which was designed in the image of the castle's white earth walls, has exhibits of various artifacts from Tono Nanbu. There are also a wide variety of items including armor, hanging scrolls, swords, boxes containing letters, and shell collections. There are also historical materials on display that date from ancient times to the modern age.

    A restored Edo period samurai residence on Ote-dori Street west of JR Mizusawa Station. It is said to have been the residence of Uchida Kannojo, an imperial guard. It's counted as one of the most prestigious samurai residences in Oshu City. About 29 meters wide and 55 meters deep, it features a thatch roofed yakuimon style front gate. Oshu City has designated it a cultural asset to pass on how senior samurai lived in the region during the late Edo period. The adjacent Samurai Residence Museum has an exhibition of valuable historical materials and offers guidance for exploring the area.

    An experience-oriented museum dedicated to the fairy tales of Kenji Miyazawa located in Takamatsu, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture. Surrounded by hills and fields, you’ll feel like you’ve wandered into the world of Miyazawa’s fairy tales in the museum’s charming, magical atmosphere. The Kenji’s School area is divided into five zones themed after the Miyazawa’s works. Other museum facilities include Milky Way Station, the Sky Plaza, Kenji’s Classroom, the Fairy Path, the Owl Path, and the Yamano Soen forest. Visitors are encouraged to slowly stroll the facility’s grounds and enjoy the fairy tale world and various sculptures scattered here and there. The nearest station is Shin-Hanamaki Station.

    An earthenware exhibition and community center in an antique renovated Tono storehouse. At the front is ancient earthenware excavated in Tono that's been restored and put on display. The back of the space is a community salon with a sofa where you can take a break while looking at the pottery. There are also rooms for hands-on workshops, community events, and earthenware making programs. A pottery storehouse and a research facility are also on-site, where researchers analyze and organize Tono pottery.

    This museum tells the history of Mizusawa, the birthplace of Nanbu ironware. It's located a five-minute walk from JR Mizusawa Esashi Station. There are displays on the process of making ironware and some of the actual equipment that was used. There's also a recreation of an ironware workshop to help you learn more about the tradition and casting process. Major league baseball player Otani Shohei hails from Mizusawa Ward, and there's a Nanbu ironware casting of his hand you can try shaking. Nanbu ironware products and crafts such as wind chimes and iron kettles are available for purchase in their gift shop.

    A museum about a 15-minute drive from Hanamaki Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. It has a collection of 1,788 pieces of sake brewing equipment on display assembled with the help of Nanbu master brewers and brewery workers. The collection depicts the history of sake brewing and has been designated a National Important Cultural Property. In addition to an overview of the brewing process, it also displays sake drinking vessels from Japan and around the world, ancient documents, and items from daily life excavated from local sites.

    This museum introduces the life and wisdom of the Kawai area of Miyako City, where the mountains bring rich blessings, there is little flat ground, and the winter is extremely cold. Mountain equipment from the Kitakami mountains are exhibited in the first exhibition room. In the second exhibition room, there is a reproduction of a Nambu Magariya farmhouse, and items from daily life in villages is stored and on display. The third exhibition room has a reproduction of the Ogawa Clinic's examination room dedicated to mountain area medical care, and introduces the achievements of the predecessors of community health care. Some of the exhibits are designated as national Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties.

    This museum is located in the Dai 3 Chiwari area of Nishitokuta in Yahaba Town, Shiwa County. It holds exhibits centering on excavated items from sites such as the neighboring Tokutan Castle Ruins, a nationally designated historic site, and Fujisawa Ezomori Kofun in the same town. In addition, the Sasaki family magariya (bent house ) displays folklore materials such as living tools in the building with a unique architectural style of the Nanbu region.

It stores folk materials such as farming tools and daily life tools, historical materials such as ancient documents, materials related to local beliefs, artifacts from ruins, and donated collections such as swords, armor and Ukiyoe woodblock prints. In addition, it also holds special exhibitions and public participation exhibitions.

    This exhibition facility inside the forest park “Iwate Prefectural Forest” is located in Matsuoyoriki, Hachimantai City. You can also interact directly with trees through playground equipment made with wood from the prefecture, a creative corner where you can experience making handicrafts, and various wooden toys. There is an observation room on the second floor of the facility that can also be used as a rest space.

    This museum is located in Kashiwadai2-Chome, Hachimantai City. It stores and exhibits historical materials related to the Matsuo Mine. The Matsuo Mine developed from the Meiji period (1868-1912) to around 1970 as the sulfur mine with the highest output in Asia, but also became famous for large-scale mining pollution.

    This literary museum inside Shiikanomori Park along National Route 107 is located in Hongoku-cho 2-Chome, Kitakami City. It collects materials related to poetry such as portfolios, reviews and magazines. Besides viewing the materials, you can see the permanent exhibits with a theme that changes each year, and the Inoue Yasushi Memorial Room. In addition, the house of Seison Yamaguchi, a haiku writer from Iwate, has also been dismantled and rebuilt adjacent to the facility.
