    This tourist information center adjoining Roadside Station Taro along National Route 45 is located an approximately five-minute drive from the Sanriku Coastal Road’s Taro Masaki Kaigan Interchange. Originally a facility located at Taro (train) Station as a tourist information center, it was relocated to this area after being completely destroyed by the tsunami from the Great East Japan Earthquake. It is also the base for earthquake and disaster prevention learning in the Taro district, and besides being the reception area for a guide to learn about disaster prevention held by the Miyako Tourism Cultural Exchange Association and screening tsunami and disaster prevention related videos, it also displays a model that shows the cityscape of the Taro district before the disaster.

    Esashi Yume Plaza, a facility tied to the tourist association on National Route 456 in Esashi Ward's Minamiodori Street. Its main tourist product sales area is on the first floor. They sell Esashi specialty items such as Iwayado yokan (sweet bean paste jelly), local candies, and Kinkon-zuke pickles, as well as folk crafts, Esashi Shishi-Odori dolls, etc. They also present area highlights featured in the year-long historical TV drama Homura Tatsu that was shot in Esashi. There's a lounge as well as a gallery with handicrafts made by the locals on display. Various events are held at an outdoor area covered by a tent.

Locals who saw the disaster first-hand act as guides, telling about their experiences and conveying the need for disaster preparedness. With local ports and the villages where they were born and raised swallowed by the tsunami, these people were forced to live in temporary housing. The program conveys the authentic experience and lessons of victims who lived through the disaster, the support that aided their time in evacuation shelters, and recovery efforts since then."

    碁石海岸の観光案内、みちのく潮風トレイルのサテライト、碁石海岸キャンプ場の受付も兼ねる。キャンプで翌日雨の時、とても気遣ってもらってありがたかった。また、管理や掃除の年配の方々がとても人情味があり、また行きたいなと思わせる。ここに情報が集まっているというよりは、ここを基点に碁石海岸を散策して、いろんな場所の看板を読み込むことで、三陸復興国立公園のこと、碁石海岸のことが分かるようになっている。

    観光案内所を兼ねていますが、メインはお土産品の販売と、お食事処の運営です。案内所と土産売り場は朝9時にオープンします。レストランの方は11時からの営業らしいです。私は朝ぶろの後に、土産品コーナーを冷かして、レストランの営業開始前には列車に乗ってしまいました。また、施設前の駅前広場には、無料で足湯ができる場所も準備されていました。

    旧マルカン百貨店から歩いていける場所にある観光交流施設です。昔の学校、商店の看板、山車の人形などを展示してありました。 その中でも注目したのは昔のレジらしい機械です。数字のキーやYen(円)、Sen(銭)と書かれたキーを打てるようになっていました。

    旧・奥州街道をランニングで旅した際に立ち寄りました。紫波中央駅の隣に位置していてとても便利です。レンタサイクルをやっているのが有難いですね。貸出台数が少ないようなので予約が出来れば安心感が高いのですが。
