    This museum that opened in 2011 is located inside Morioka Castle Park in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. You can see exhibited documents related to the history and culture of Morioka. In addition, it regularly holds various events such as workshops, seasonal events and Morioka Sansa Odori performances. It is not only visited by local residents but also many tourists.

    This museum took us no more than 30 minutes to go through. I went mainly for the armour and clothing, which were beatiful. The lack of English means that its hard for english speakers to fully...

    A museum dedicated to Takuboku Ishikawa and Kenji Miyazawa. These two historic figures spent their youths in Morioka City during the Meiji and Taisho periods, and the museum presents materials relating to Morioka City during those times. The museum building, completed in 1910, was once the Dai Kuju Bank head office and is designated a National Important Cultural Property.

    This museum is located in the Dai 3 Chiwari area of Nishitokuta in Yahaba Town, Shiwa County. It holds exhibits centering on excavated items from sites such as the neighboring Tokutan Castle Ruins, a nationally designated historic site, and Fujisawa Ezomori Kofun in the same town. In addition, the Sasaki family magariya (bent house ) displays folklore materials such as living tools in the building with a unique architectural style of the Nanbu region.

    This museum is located inside TonanTsudoi Forest in the 1 Chiwari area of Yuzawa, Morioka City. It stores folk materials such as farming tools and daily life tools, historical materials such as ancient documents, materials related to local beliefs, artifacts from ruins, and donated collections such as swords, armor and Ukiyoe woodblock prints. In addition, it also holds special exhibitions and public participation exhibitions.

    盛岡八幡宮境内のなかにあります。盛岡八幡宮の例大祭の山車が保存、展示されています。もちろん保存だけではなく、いずれの山車も現役です。しかも盛岡市の無形民俗文化財として盛岡市から指定されています。でも、でも、開館が土曜日、日曜日、祝日だけだという。実際に行ってみたら閉まっていました。残念でなりません。

    地元の昔ながらの生活様式を伝える道具類を展示していて、近くで採れる山の蔓などを上手に使って作ったかごなど。 館長が雫石の歴史についても丁寧に説明してくれました。
