    A soba restaurant located along “Soba Kaido (Buckwheat Road)” in Minamiogunimachi, Asogun, Kumamoto Prefecture situated amidst the vast natural beauty in the mountains of Aso. The shop offers fresh, handmade soba noodles carefully prepared with fragrant buckwheat flour slowly ground with a stone mortar. The shop’s noodles are springy and soak up broth well, and users can enjoy the natural deliciousness of buckwheat filling their mouth with every bite. The Suzuran-zen set is particularly popular and comes with three varieties of soba noodles as well as sobagayu (buckwheat porridge). The shop’s vaunted kudzu desserts are also renowned.

    This soba noodle restaurant is situated in the center of Mt. Aso's outer crater rim. The restaurant grows its own buckwheat utilizing a native Kugino variety passed down since ancient times in Kugino district, Minamiaso Village. This buckwheat is then ground to a find powder to make flour using a large millstone, resulting in noodles which customers rave have a chewy texture and superb aroma. The restaurant also has plump, chewy sobagaki buckwheat dumplings which come in two sizes - regular, and half size. Eat them with the provided dashi-based dipping sauce and condiments such as grated daikon radish and white spring onions to enjoy an even better flavor. The restaurant also takes pride in its commanding view of the front side of the five peaks of Mt. Aso.

    俵山トンネルが開通してから、南阿蘇は随分アクセスが楽になりました。開通してから何度も南阿蘇にうかがっていますが、いつ来てもそばの産地でもある久木野のそばは美味しいです。 色々とお店はありますが、自分は久木野庵によく行きます。二八そばは非常に香りが高く美味しいです。またつゆは九州独特の甘いものじゃなく、キリッとした辛めです。辛味大根でいただくので関東風のそばではないでしょうか。

    昼間しか営業していません。阿蘇を訪れる観光客が来ます。小さな店で老夫婦二人でやっているので日曜は混みます。うどんも蕎麦もあり高菜めしも食べられます。うどんも出汁も美味しいです。ごぼう天うどんと高菜めしを頂きました。700円でした。

    宿泊で利用。 貸切温泉は、空いていれば予約なしで入れる。 部屋数よりも温泉の数の方が多いので順番待ちの必要がない。また、それぞれ趣が違うので楽しんで入浴できる。 ただ食事の際、お食事処が無音なので咀嚼音が気になる人がいると地獄。 何を食べたのかほとんど覚えていない。

    何となく蕎麦の気分で、ランチに訪問。自分らが最後の客だったようで、入店即「蕎麦売り切れ」の看板が入口に出された模様。二つもりと、家人は地どりせいろを。蕎麦は香りがしっかりして歯ごたえもよく、美味い。ただ九州は蕎麦文化が中心ではないのでつゆがどうしても好みに合わない。長野暮らしが長かったので自然と味を比べてしまう。 まぁでも接客も好感だったし、また近くに来たら立ち寄るかも。 ご馳走様、
