- Gunma Pref. Agatsumagunkusatsumachi Kusatsu
- A Shinto shrine dedicated to Yamato Takeru located a 10-minute walk from the last bust stop on the bus bound for Kusatsu Onsen leaving from Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station on the JR Agatsuma Line. Just when the shrine was established is unclear, but it has long been a destination for worshippers, particularly those who view Mt. Shirane as sacred. The shrine was originally located at the top of Mt. Shirane but a new main shrine building was built in the current location when it was ranked as a village shrine. There is a large ema votive tablet on the grounds which visitors are free to write their wishes on. There's also a monument to the Washi no Yu, the oldest public bath in Kusatsu.

Gunma Areas
Gunma prefecture is synonymous with onsen. Natural hot spring water sources throughout the prefecture have given rise to a series of small onsen towns, each set among luscious mountains. At Kusatsu, Ikaho, and Minakami, traditional indoor and outdoor bathing experiences are served hand in hand with irresistible onsen-themed food, including steam-cooked eggs and custard pudding.
