This outdoor activity center is located a 10-minute drive from the Minakami Interchange on the Kan-Etsu Expressway. With the support of the center's skilled staff, visitors can enjoy a variety of activity tours. Go on a canyoning tour and climb up mountain streams and slide down natural waterslides wearing a wetsuit and helmet. During early summer and fall, the center offers river rafting; in winter, snow sports such as snowshoeing; no matter the time of year, the center has activities through which you can get in touch with nature. The center has courses for everyone from beginners to advanced practitioners, so even those not confident in their physical abilities can have fun.

Beautiful place and location. About 2 hours from Tokyo, and the tolls were maybe 50$ (we drove) Really cute BBQ (yakiniku style) towards the end of our day. Superb staff. Would definitely recommend.

Gunma prefecture Tone-gun Minakami-machi Yuzonso Yu Fukayama National Forest Tanigawa-dake ropeway
This ropeway spanning Tanigawadake at the border of Gunma Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture connects the 746-meter altitude Doaiguchi Station with the Tenjindaira Station located at an altitude of 1,319 meters. There is also an observatory, and visitors can use a lift to reach Tenjin Toge Pass which is the start of a hiking route. The trekking course from Tenjin Toge follows the mountain ridge and takes about two and a half hours, and is a veritable treasure house for plants such as Hosobahinayukiso (a kind of Leontopodium Fairriei). The large 360-degree panoramic view from the top of the mountain affords spectacular vistas of the surrounding mountains, and is a very popular hiking course that is suitable even beginners.

I have mild height phobia so it’s a thrill ride for me. Beautiful views that change as you go higher. I went in summer so you can imagine how much more beautiful in autumn! Not cheap , 2000+¥. The...

This long-established inn on the banks of the Tone River, about seven minutes from the Minakami Interchange on the Kanetsu Expressway, was founded in 1927. There are 15 baths, each with its own unique atmosphere, including the “Bokusui-no-Yu”, using the valuable architecture from the time the inn was founded, and an outdoor bath where you can hear the babble of the stream and view the fresh green and autumn foliage as well as a snow scene, etc. The water quality is calcium / sodium sulfate chloride, said to be effective in easing neuralgia and poor circulation etc. The bath is available for day use and combining it with an outdoor experience is also popular.

We stay here only 1 night. The heater in the room was so loud and we smell the cigarette from it we can’t sleep so we have to turn it off. The privet onsen room was great tho. The breakfast was very...

Located in Minakami Town, Tone County, Gunma Prefecture, this glass theme park includes a hand-made glass workshop exhibiting Japan’s top-class techniques, a museum of glass art, and a retail shop. In the museum, you’ll find a variety of glass works—from ancient roman, to art nouveau, and works made by modern masters. In the workshop, you can take a free tour of how glass products are made. It is adjacent to a workshop for blown glass and stained glass, and to a restaurant that serves local beer.

I highly suggest googling this in advance to see if the glass styles are your taste. It is not bad at all and I agree with the others that the actual glass blowing activity is not well suited for...

"This long-standing handmade soba noodle restaurant has been in business for 250 years. Established in Niigata, it became a favorite of locals after moving here to Minakami. The restaurant's noodles are made right up in the front using stone milled buckwheat flour. The restaurant's specialty is its hegi soba made with mountain spring water. Hegi soba is a Niigata specialty consisting of several portions of soba noodles served on a tray called a ""hegi"" and the restaurant offers a variety of sides to enjoy with its hegi soba such as vegetable tempura and a variety of dipping sauces. The restaurant's zaru soba and seiro soba are also popular and many fans keep coming back again and again to enjoy them."

Featured in international guidebooks like Lonely Planet and Reuters news, the area attracts many hot spring lovers from around Japan and the world. The district's only hot spring hotel, the Osenkaku, has four outdoor baths constantly replenished kakenagashi style from the source spring, and in one of these visitors can savor relaxing hot spring waters and beautiful, seasonal scenery. The area's mildly alkaline simple spring is renowned for moisturizing the skin of bathers. This bathing facility is located in Tanigawa Onsenkyo Hot Spring Village. The facility is unusual in Japan, because it uses water from three different sources. The hot springs are simple alkaline spring water in the Fudo no Yu bath, calcium sodium sulphate chloride spring water in the Kajika no Yu bath, and simple spring water in the Hotaru no Yu bath. The large, open outdoor bath was built along the river, and visitors can enter the bath from the decking at the back of the building. There are also shops and rest facilities available inside the building.

It gets a bit crowded at peak times, but a lovely onsen in a great location. I would avoid it at 5 to 6pm though in the ski season as it gets pretty crowded.

This day-trip hot spring facility is located approximately 10 minutes from the Kan-etsu Expressway Minakami Interchange. 100% of the spring water is drawn directly from the ancient source of the spring. There are two types of bath in the facility, the heated indoor cypress bath and the warm outdoor bath, which is left at its natural temperature. Visitors can relax while enjoying both of these. The outdoor bath faces the Anogawa River, and visitors can enjoy the fresh green of the summer and the autumn leaves in the fall. Looking out at the snowy landscape is also especially popular in the winter. It is a calcium sulfate spring, and it is also possible to drink the spring water. In addition to the restaurant, there is also a fishing pond and a barbeque area where visitors can salt-grill their catches.

The Cafe Restaurant Ashima, famous for yaki (grilled) curry, a specialty of Minakami Onsen, was established more than 25 years ago. In addition to the original yaki curry dish which has been popular since the store first opened, the weekday limited pasta lunch plate and coffee made with the delicious water of Tanigawa River are also popular. Pets accompanying guests are allowed on the terrace. It is about a ten minute on walk from JR Minakami Station.

The main menu is comprised of slightly frozen milk and collagen-based sweets made without using flavorings or emulsifiers. The sweets feature a rich milky flavor, a crunchy texture and a refreshing after-taste. They are delicious either plain or with a rock salt or cocoa topping available free of charge. Other toppings such as crushed brownie and Ujikintoki can also be bought.

A five minute drive from the Minakami Interchange. A thrilling bungee jump experience provided by Bungy Japan using the Suwakyo-ohashi Bridge in the town of Minakami. Bungee jumping is a sport which requires jumpers to face themselves, and its origins lie in a coming of age ceremony practiced in the nation of Vanuatu. The sense of accomplishment one can receive is particularly strong here at the Suwakyo-ohashi Bridge, which provides a 42 meter drop into a beautiful gorge. Minakami is readily accessible from Tokyo and on weekends, large numbers of spectators also gather here, creating a lively atmosphere for jumpers.

Awesome place to Bungy with great view all around.Had multiple jumps and it was great fun.The Tanigawadake Autumn view is an added bonus.
