    A long-standing sake brewery in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is famous as the birthplace of Taketsuru Masataka, the father of Japanese whisky. Available for purchase here are special sakes that can’t be bought anywhere else. This location has drawn lots of fans and tourists after being used as the model location for an NHK drama.

    This long-established brewery is located at the foot of the southwestern side of Mt. Akagi, in Kitatachibana Town, Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. It continues to use cool, clear underground water to make its sake. It is where the refined Japanese rice wine, Kanto no Hana is produced, and the surrounding area remains a natural environment where fireflies dance and freshwater crabs play. The special brewery’s signature refined sake, Kanto no Hana, uses the especially suitable Wakamizu rice produced in Gunma Prefecture to give the sake its characteristic flavor and sharpness that a person will never tire of drinking. Sake, shochu other liquor can also be tasted at the shop front.

    A sake brewery located at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture which has been in business since 1867. Dedicated to consistent, high quality and to making sake by hand, the brewery's liquors are created with natural Mt. Tsukuba spring water welling up from a spring on the grounds. The brewery building dates back to the establishment of the company and the brewery offers tours which enable participants to observe the company's sake making and refined techniques. Aiming to enhance visitors' understanding of sake, the brewery also offers three varieties of sake for tasting as well as dishes made with sake lees. In addition, the brewery has a cafe where, with an advance reservation, visitors can enjoy lunch or dinner consisting of cuisine made with local vegetables and other ingredients.

    A sake brewery established in the Edo period located a 10-minute walk from the north exit of JR Yuki Station. The brewery building was originally built in the Ansei era; this and the large brick chimney added on in the Meiji period are designated a National Tangible Cultural Property. Visitors can enjoy food along with Fukufuku, a traditional and renowned sake which has been brewed since the Edo period, served at various temperatures. Yuiyui, another of the brewery's famous sakes, is decorated with a design created by a local calligrapher depicting a thread ring surrounding the character for good fortune. Made with underground water from the Kinugawa River system, this sake is characterized by its mild flavor.

    "A brewery located a 15-minute drive from the Naka interchange on the Joban Expressway. The brewery makes and sells local beers in Daigo Town under the catchphrase, ""Local Daigo beers only drinkable in Daigo."" The quality and temperature of Daigo's spring water remains stable throughout the year, and it is used to make ""Yamizo Shinrin no Beer,"" a variety which has won much acclaim from local beer fans. The beer is offered in four types-a pilsner, weizenbier, helles, and special seasonal variety. Each is an exquisite beverage full-bodied and rich in flavor."

When their sake's being produced, you can get a close look at the brewing process and take part in tastings of fresh sake. Generally, there are three or four varieties available at any given time.     This sake brewery located in 1 Chome, Tegara, Himeji City was established in 1910. Their fine Nadagiku brew and other products are renowned at home and abroad. They make their sake with carefully selected brewing rice grown in the prefecture, including Hyogo Yumenishiki, a special product of Nishiharima. You can visit their wooden sake storehouse that remains as it was when the brewery was founded, as well as view brewing equipment and panel displays on the modern sake making process. They hold tastings in their shop, and have a restaurant, too.

    Founded in 1882, this brewery is the northern most sake brewery in Japan. During its first 20 years of operation, the brewery was located in the old main store, Kyu-shoka-Maruichihonmake, which is now a designated Important Cultural Property. The existing brewery was built in 1902 and is open for tours. Kunimare of representative brand of sake bearing the brewery name is highly recommended. It is a full-bodied yet dry and mellow sake with a subdued bitterness. The special junmaishu Kunimare that brings out the essence of the rice while preserving a refreshingly clean taste is one of their proud masterpieces. Over 10 types of sake from the brewery are offered for tasting, and you can enjoy the thrill of discovering your favorite brew.

    This is an undiluted sake storehouse for the Kagura Shuzo brewery, famous for products such as the mugi (barley) shochu Kurouma and soba (buckwheat) shochu Tensho. Originally a tunnel for the Trans-Kyushu railroad, construction was stopped due to flooding but gained new life as a barrel storage facility for shochu due to its unchanging temperature and humidity. Around 1,300 barrels are stored in the 1,115-meter-long tunnel, through which the rich aroma of vapor shochu drifts. At the facility’s tourism center, one can try the stored distilled spirit for free.

    The Oishi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. has a history of more than 300 years. Guests can visit the Sake-no-Kan shop, the main building, and the Motokura. The Motokura is its old brewery, and they have a tasting counter as well as a hakari-uri corner where they sell sake by volume, with guests filling up bottles of their choice as much as they'd like. It's also popular for selling sake varieties not available anywhere else.

    湯の花温泉の帰りに寄りました。展示スペースはそこまで大きくはないです。日曜だったためか、製造工程はみれませんでした(器具は置いてありました)一階のお店では、お酒や、お土産が購入出来ます。大石酒造生産の奈良漬けがとても美味しく、試食で気に入って購入しました。試飲も出来ました。

    This brewery was awarded first prize in the Kanto-Shinetsu Sake Awards 2013 held by the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Taxation Bureau of the National Tax Agency of Japan for its Mizuo sake. The brewery produces great tasting local sake using locally grown rice and high-quality water. The water used in the brewing process is spring water from the foot of Mt. Mizuo in Nozawa Onsen Village. This natural mineral water has a distinct freshness to it making for a great tasting sake. Visitors are also welcome to try some of the sake in the shop. A good bottle to try is the Mizuo Tokubetsu Honjozo (special genuine brewed sake). It’s a well-balanced dry sake to be enjoyed either chilled or warm. The brewery itself is open to visitors every year in April. Booking is required so please check ahead of time.

    This brewery was established in 1789 along National Route 20 in Suwa, Suwa City. It sells high-quality spirits brewed using groundwater that runs underneath Kirigamine Highland. Tours of the facility are offered as well (unavailable from October until around March). There’s also a popular local brew available called “Suwa Roman Beer” that was created by the chief brewer.

    This sake brewery established in the early Meiji period makes the sake used for sake offerings at Tanzan Shrine. It is notable for its Daimyoshoyazake brand and its kijoshu (sake made by substituting water with sake in some processes). The brewery's amber Ruijoshu received the top marks in the koshu (aged sake) category at the International Wine Challenge 2017, earning it the Koshu Trophy. After being brewed to a Sake Meter Value of at least -50, this sake is aged for 10 years inside a cellar. It has a substantial sweetness unlike that of a kijoshu. The brewery is popular for its broad lineup, which ranges from fresh, unrefined and unfiltered sake as well as fine junmai daiginjo.
