This is a long-established store continuing since 1870, located at the “Kutani-yaki” pottery, a craft representative of Ishikawa Prefecture. All the work is completed by hand from molding the clay to the first kiln, second firing and decorating with glaze, and the techniques of old Kokutani and revived Kutani continued to be protected even today. In addition to being able to see the manufacturing process in the workshop, visitors are able to experience painting a design to make their very own original piece. There is an exhibition room with a variety of kiln artwork, and pieces from traditional style to those of everyday use are for sale. The nearest station is Nomachi Station.

Noting to see or do there. Only a few expensive poteries. We were not invited to visit. There was only one employee in the store

Yumachigama is a pottery shop and studio workshop located in the immediate vicinity of Tamatsukuri-Onsen Station. Opened in 1922, the pottery makes the Fujinayaki style of ceramics which flourished in the home territory of the seventh lord of the Matsue Domain, Matsudaira Fumai, who was also well known as being a master in the tea ceremony. Fujinayaki is characterized by its honey color which comes from the yellow glaze called ouyu (literally, “yellow glaze”), and its blue color which comes from the blue glaze called namakoyu (literally, “sea cucumber glaze”. The plump designs which express the warmth of the work done by hand are also very appealing. The shop’s ‘egg baker’ whose design was completed with the help of the British potter, Bernard Leach, is a popular piece.

A 15-minute walk from the Izu-Kogen Station on the Izu-Kyuko Line. At this pottery workshop even complete beginners can feel free to experience making their own pottery. Starting with just a lump of clay you can make your own original piece that is unique throughout the world. From 1kg of clay you can make two smaller items such as tea-cups or mugs or one larger item such as a serving plate. You can choose your favorite glaze from six different options and then the staff will fire your piece and mail the finished article to wherever you like. Once you get the hang of it you can challenge yourself with more complicated projects and slightly more difficult techniques such as hand tossing, using the electric potter's wheel, or ceramic painting.

"A pottery studio founded in 1845 with an attached workshop and gallery. While the pottery has a long history, their work features modern designs to blend with contemporary life under a concept of ""vessels for daily use that enrich people's living spaces."" All of their pieces are masterfully created by hand without any machine-based mass production at all. The gallery's permanent exhibit features Maruo ware's work as well as pieces from other potters."

The directly-managed store has a manufacturing plant and showroom, and offers a wide range of Imari Nabeshima ware, including the Cuir Design, which has a beautiful leather-like texture and luster, and the Leger Series, which is made of a special ceramic clay that allows light to penetrate through the ware. The company also offers factory tours for those who wish to visit.

You’ll find this tourism facility in Yunotsu Town, Ohda City, Shimane Prefecture. This town once flourished as a shipping port for silver ore mined from the World Heritage Site Iwami Ginzan silver mine, and there are two ascending kilns remaining from that era, the largest in the country. In the “Yakimono-kan (Pottery building),” there are exhibits on excellent works of Yunotsu-yaki ware as well as materials on the history of the ceramic art. The workshop allows visitors to create handmade original mugs, plates, bowls, and other items and hand-decorate them.

Small museum / shop 5 minutes drive from Yunotsu. Offers the chance to paint / glaze pottery from Y2000. Kilns interesting, but if not doing activity, spend 20mins max here.
