  • Kamiyama Onsen

Tokushima Myozai-gun Kamiyamacho Jinryo Hon Uetsuno
The history of this hot spring resort, located in Tokushima Prefecture's Myozai District, dates back to 1868. Surrounded by natural beauty and a perfect place to rest and recuperate, records say that a salt water bathing hut stood here in the Edo period. The waters of the resort's sodium chloride, hydrogen carbonate spring (sodium bicarbonate-containing salt spring) are said to be effective for general indication and treat such ailments as cuts, peripheral circulatory failure, sensitivity to cold, depression, and abnormally dry skin. They also have a strong warming effect which prevents post-bath chills and excellent moisture retention effect. The resort has lodging facilities, making it a great base from which to explore the area; the resort's bathing facilities are also open to non-guests. The resort is also located between the Shosan-ji Temple and the Dainichi-ji Temple, the 12th and 13th stations along the Shikoku Pilgrimage which follows sacred sites connected to the great monk Kobo Daishi. Pilgrims will definitely want to add a visit to this resort to their itinerary.
