- Wakayama Pref. Shingushi Yakushimachi 5-6
- This restaurant featuring local cuisine first opened in 1962. They offer fare such as oden hot pots, fried pork skewers, and mehari-zushi, a local Nanki-Shingu favorite. These rice balls wrapped in mustard leaves get their name from being so large that people's eyes go wide when they open their mouths to eat them. As they hold together well, they're known as one of Japan's favorite packed lunches. The shop always makes them fresh to order so customers can enjoy them right away at the peak of flavor. The shop moved to its current location in August 2018. The building's unique, circular shape will catch your attention.

The Tekka-don rice bowl is one of its most popular dishes, with a veritable mountain of tuna piled on top, so much that one cannot see the rice underneath. The saury-shape sushi is also available for take-out as a souvenir. A telephone reservation is required for groups.
