    This ferry service connecting Wakayama and Tokushima uses the Wakayama Port Ferry Terminal approximately 20 minutes by car from Wakayama Interchange. It runs daily except when there are typhoons or other disasters, providing a relaxing journey at sea anytime. You can book up to 2 months in advance if you're bringing your car. On the day of service, bicycles and motorcycles are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. There are also bus and ferry ticket sets available. They hold free concerts once a year on their Jazz Ferry sailing. Souvenirs are available at the gift shop inside the terminal.

    Susami Roadside Station is located along National Route 42, about a 15-minute drive from the Susami Interchange or a five-minute walk from JR Esumi Station. A special attraction is the Susami Municipal Aquarium of Crab and Shrimp right next door. Just a five-minute drive farther along the road is Esuzaki Point, a National Natural Monument, one of the many nearby scattered scenic sightseeing attractions that make this area so wonderful. The restaurant's flagship dishes include Deep-Fried Local Lobster on Rice Dinner and Saury Sushi, and it also sells a unique Lettuce Dipping Sauce. Another shop on the premises sells freshly caught local fish.

    This roadside station on National Route 42 where the Kumano Kodo's Nakahechi Trail intersects with the Ohechi Trail is widely used as a base for sightseeing. The prime location has a variety of nearby attractions such as Daimon-zaka, Nachi Falls, and Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine. Nachi-eki Kouryu Center is on the premises, as well as a farm stand selling handmade items like mehari-zushi rice balls and jam. Its Kumano Nachi World Heritage Information Center showcases local history, and its Nishikinoyu hot spring facility is open until 22:00. Nachi Beach is just a short walk away.

    Located along National Route 480, Kushigaki no Sato Roadside Station opened in 2017. Its primary mission is to serve as a community center for the local residents, and it offers a large rest area where visitors can eat and drink. In addition to specialties as dried persimmons, the roadside station deals in a wide variety of local food ingredients, which make suitable souvenirs of the area. Fukumimi Bakery, a branch of a bakery in Iwade City, sells varieties of bread that can be found nowhere else. There is also a restaurant where visitors can try Kishu Plum Udon, a variety of noodle with plums kneaded into the dough for noodles. The various shops at this roadside station are closed on different days.

At the direct sales office for processed forest and agricultural products, items such as fresh local vegetables, goods made with the Japanese pepper ""Budo Sansho"" that the area boasts the largest production for in all of Japan, as well as handmade Kishu Washi paper called ""Yasudagami"" are available for purchase. In the cafeteria, you can try out popular dishes such as healthy ""konnyaku udon noodles"" made with homemade konjac, and lunch sets featuring side dishes made with ample amounts of local produce."

    あらぎ島に行くときに立ち寄りました。 メチャクチャ大きい道の駅とは言いがたいですが、お土産コーナーと食堂があります。 あらぎ島に行くときはオススメです。

    Negoro Sakura no Sato Roadside Station is located along Prefectural Route 63, about a ten-minute drive from the Sennan Interchange. Located along the border with Osaka Prefecture, it is the entry point for sightseeing in Wakayama Prefecture. Many kinds of vegetables grown by local farmers are available for sale, including Negoro Daito green peppers, which are larger than other varieties. Other famous local products, including ornamental flowers such as carnations and snapdragons, are available in abundance. In the vicinity are Wakayama Prefecture Botanical Park Ryokka Center and Negoroji Temple, the main temple of Shingi Shingon Buddhism.

    和歌山にたまに出かけます。今回はミカンと苺を買いに出かけました。まず最初の道の駅です。ここでプリンを買いました。限定なので早めに買わないとなくなります。250円です。濃厚な味わいです。質感も若干固めのしっかりした感じです。ここではみかんを買いました。お安い。

    This roadside station is located about ten minutes by car from the Keinawa Expressway Kinokawa-Higashi Interchange. Its Flower Hill Museum complex designed by Kisho Kurokawa has an exhibition room with items and documents belonging to Hanaoka Seishu, the surgeon responsible for the world's first successful surgical removal of breast cancer by general anesthesia. Shunrinken, the surgeon's residence and clinic, has been relocated here. There's a realistic replication of surgery during the period as well as experiments with the anesthetic Tsusensan using mannequins and sound. There's a restaurant on the premises too.

    紀の川から名張に抜ける通りすがりでトイレ利用。 施設内には華岡青洲の記念館があるようだが、立ち寄りが夜だったのでまったくわからなかった。 規模はさほどではない道の駅だが、通りすがりのトイレ利用には心強い存在。

With a focus on vegetables and fruit, they sell and ship a wide variety of special Hidakagawa Town products, including Kishu Binchotan charcoal and wood vinegar. Their Horohoro-tei restaurant features a variety of dishes made with horohoro, or guinea fowl, including ramen noodles and rice bowls. They also serve dishes featuring wild boar and venison. Business hours vary according to the time of year.

There’s also an outdoor play area with large playground equipment and a market selling local agricultural and specialty products direct from area farmers. The rest area’s bakery and café has an eat-in space where you can enjoy fresh-baked bread, pastas, and other meals.

    This is located in Akitsugawa, the home of binchotan charcoal, about a 15-minute drive from the Nanki Tanabe Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway. In addition to binchotan charcoal and wind chimes and other small items made from it, the shop sells dried plums, mandarin oranges, vegetables, and processed foods. A popular menu items at the adjacent restaurant is black Binchotan Ramen. Visitors can also try their hands at making wind chimes out of binchotan charcoal or squeezing juice out of locally grown Nanko plums. Barbecuing with binchotan charcoal is possible in all kinds of weather.

    This roadside station on National Route 371 features an extended building reminiscent of a dragon's body. Forestry is Ryujin Village's main industry. As you enter the facility, you're welcomed by enormous pillars made from 350-plus year old southern Japanese hemlock, and local wood is used throughout the building. The sales area is replete with wooden products including tables and chairs, and the restaurant overlooking the Hidaka River serves coffee brewed with spring water. They don’t mind if you bring lunch with you to the facility.

    小規模な道の駅だが周囲には飲食店が少なく、こちらでランチをいただいた。シカやイノシシなどのどんぶりやカレーなどのメニューあり。イノシシカレーを注文、豚よりもコクのある肉が美味しかった。渓流沿いのテラスが気持ち良かった。

    This roadside station on National Route 480 is about a 15-minute drive from the Arida Interchange. The station’s name derives from the prominent Kegon Buddhist priest Myoe syonin of the Kegon school’s Kankiji Temple who was born in Aridagawa Town (former Kanaya-machi). Besides the array of local produce available at the Kanaya Farm Stand, they sell processed products that make perfect souvenirs like Kinzanji-miso, handmade soy sauce, and dressing. Fresh baked bread from the Furusato Bakery is made with natural yeast and pure water from the Arida River. The bread is delicious the next day, too.

    国道480号と424号がクロスする金屋町の外れにある道の駅。狭い店内にも外にも地場産の野菜や加工品、パンなどを求めて地元の人でも観光客でもごった返す連休の中日でした。普段はもっとひっそりしていますが。

    "This roadside station on National Route 311 is easily recognizable as the building looks like a big bamboo hanagasa hat. As it faces the Kumano Kodo's Nakahechi Trail, people walking the ancient pilgrimage route stop in for a rest as well those traveling by car. The shop sells a popular item called ""konnyaku inari,"" sushi rice tucked in a slightly spicy konnyaku gelatin pocket, as well as jabara citrus juice and candies that have been featured on television. Their restaurant's ume plum buckwheat soba noodles come recommended."

    There are tables inside and outside. There is a good selection of snacks and lunch foods for travellers. The coffee was cheap and not too bad. Well worth a stop.

    This roadside station on National Route 42 is approximately seven minutes by car from JR Kushimoto Station. The Hashigui-iwa Rock is a National Natural Monument. As the facility's name suggests, you can get a good view of it from the premises. There's a clear view from the observation deck of the unique scenery of its 40 large and small formations scattered offshore. The roadside station is a good place for a quick bite to eat there with items like French fries and fried yakisoba noodles, and their soft serve ice cream made with locally grown ponkan oranges is especially popular. The facility's shop sells lots of items featuring plums and jabara citrus. It's open 365 days a year.

    This roadside station is approximately three minutes by car from JR Nishi-Kaseda Station. It's located on National Route 24 in the area where 15 of the poems in the eighth century Manyoshu collection were composed. Koyasan is to the west of the facility, and there are mountains to the north and south, too. The Kinokawa River is right nearby, making it a starting point for hiking, fishing for ayu sweet fish, and other leisure activities. The local favorite persimmon leaf sushi can be purchased as a souvenir from their shop, and it's also available as part of the meal sets at their restaurant.

    This roadside station on National Route 311 is often used as a base for exploring Tanabe City's Oto area. With mountains and rivers close by, you can enjoy a variety of seasonal activities like fishing and viewing the colored leaves in the fall. Their shop offers local specialty products like Kinzanji-miso and lots of seasonal items including wild vegetables and ayu sweet fish. Oto is a wood production area, and their exchange hall holds highly popular woodworking classes. Their restaurant's Inaka Bento lunch boxes (limited to eight a day) and Kumano-no-Ankake udon noodles get good reviews.

    トイレ休憩で立ち寄りました。高速降りて 小一時間。丁度良い所に有ります。 熊野本宮大社迄も小一時間程度で到着出来る距離に有ります。トイレも綺麗に使われてます。お店の充実度は大規模な道の駅と違い こじんまりしてます。何か食べる感じでも無い。レストランあったかな?

    This roadside station is about 15 minutes by car from Hashimoto Interchange and 20 minutes from Iwade Negoro Interchange. It's on National Route 24 and is the only parking area on the Keinawa Expressway. Katsuragi Town has a very temperate climate, perfect for producing chestnuts, peaches, and a variety of other fruit. Their shop sells seasonal produce grown by local farmers, as well as souvenirs such as walnut kurumi mochi sweets (a local favorite), fruit juice, and Wakayama ramen noodles. Their restaurant serves Wakayama ramen too, as well as persimmon leaf sushi.

    This roadside station is on National Route 42 approximately five minutes by car from JR Tsubaki Station. Shirahama Town's Tsubaki area is famous for its natural hot springs that are said to be great for the skin. While it has the regular roadside station services like tourist information and special products, it also has a footbath and a public bath where you can enjoy their free-flowing hot spring water. Their family bath is a nice way to have a soak together. Buying a book of entry tickets will provide you a discount on each bath. They have a vending machine where you can purchase hot spring hot water too. Their eatery serves such regular dishes as set meals and rice bowls.

    This roadside station is on National Route 169 in Yoshino-Kumano National Park. Located at the eastern edge of Wakayama Prefecture, it provides tourist information for the Kitayama Village area, has outdoor activity and sports facilities, a spa, and lodging. They also have a cultural area exhibiting artifacts from the Jomon period. Their Jabara Shokudo serves fare packed with the goodness of the local mountains, and their Jabaraya specialty shop sells woodwork and local specialty products. While it's a great rest stop on your drive through the mountains, it has so much to offer it's a destination in its own right.

    This roadside station is on National Route 480. It's Fureaikan Hall is located in the Fureai-no-Oka area where you can enjoy a variety of sports, as well as their pool, water slide, and barbecue facilities in the summer. Its simple lodge is used for training camps and doubles as a tourist information center. Aridagawa Town is Japan's largest producer of sansho pepper, and you can enjoy dishes like curry featuring wild vegetables at the facility's restaurant and shop. It's open throughout the summer holidays but closed between December and mid-March. Their roadside station stamp pad is outdoors, so you can add it to your collection even if they're closed.
