    A restaurant specializing in local Satsuma (Kagoshima) cuisine located on the north side of the Tenmonkan. Diners can enjoy a variety of colorful Kagoshima dishes, including pork bone and belly meat slow stewed for three hours until it can be cut with chopsticks, shabu-shabu with Roppaku Kurobuta pork from Kagoshima, sake-zushi fermented overnight with only local sake, fresh silver-striped round herring sashimi caught in Kagoshima Bay (Kinkou Bay) and served with a homemade mustard and vinegared miso sauce, and satsumaage deep-fried fish paste. Private rooms in a variety of sizes are also available, making this a perfect place to have a party or banquet.

Dedicated to local flavors, the establishment makes use of Satsuma Roppaku Berkshire pork raised in Ibusuki: Black Satsuma Chicken, a local variety; and high grade honkare katsuobushi produced in Yamakawa, Ibusuki City. In addition to tonkatsu breaded pork cutlet, a local staple, customers can enjoy luxurious Berkshire pork shabu-shabu, and Satsuma Black Chicken tsukune meatloaf and even sashimi. The restaurant offers low priced set meals during lunchtime as well as the “Ontamaran-don,” a local specialty consisting of a bowl of rice topped with salty-sweet Berkshire pork and a custard-like “hot spring” soft boiled egg.

Produced by “Sobachaya Fukiagean” Japanese soba noodle restaurant chain, here customers can enjoy their shabu-shabu with a soba noodle-style tsuyu sauce flavored with dashi. Customers can also get free refills of this light and tasty tsuyu. The meats on offer primarily consist of cuts of Berkshire pork raised in Kagoshima and fed copious amounts of sweet potatoes. The restaurant’s shabu-shabu is accented with special yuzu pepper. Customers can finish off their meal with the company’s fresh, handmade soba noodles.

    A Japanese izakaya pub which serves local Satsuma (Kagoshima) chicken and kamameshi rice pots. The pub’s chicken is stocked that very morning from a free-range farm in Kagoshima City. Particularly popular menu choices include the ultra-fresh chicken sashimi, charcoal grilled chicken, and karaage fried chicken. The pub also offers laboriously crafted tsukune chicken meatloaf. The pub’s other signature dish, its kamameshi rice hot pots, are created without rushing and customers will have to wait 30–40 minutes from the time of their order before they can eat. The pub’s seafood, fresh-caught in the waters off of Kagoshima, and its over 1,000 varieties of local shochu liquors, are also popular.

    土曜日の19:00頃でしたが宴会も含めて結構混んでいるのにキビキビと立ち回るスタッフがすごい優秀!お料理も美味しくて良かったけど、メニューにあるたくさんの焼酎、結構な割合で売り切れだったのは残念でした。代わりにおススメしてもらった焼酎が美味しかったので結果、良かったです。

    A large rest stop, one of the largest in Kagoshima. The facility’s distinctive sign is decorated with a large Sakurajima daikon radish statue. The first floor of the facility is a market where visitors can purchase shochu liquor and other Sakurajima specialty products. In the second-floor restaurant, you can enjoy a meal along with a view of the magnificent, mountainous landscape of Sakurajima. Visitors can also view the volcano from the facility’s observatory, and there’s even a space for taking a commemorative photo.

    A Berkshire pork specialty restaurant located a three-minute walk from Aratahachimandentei Station on the Kagoshima City Tram. The grounds boast a beautiful pond and stone bridge and the stately Japanese style restaurant building is surrounded by seasonal trees and plants. The restaurant uses only select Berkshire pork raised with a specific diet on Watanabe Berkshire Farm. This delicate, elegant meat is used in the restaurant’s shabu-shabu, tonkatsu breaded pork cutlet, and all of its pork dishes. In addition to Berkshire pork hamburg steaks and pork steaks served piping hot on plats of Sakurajima lava stone, the restaurant’s local, Kagoshima style cuisine is also popular, and the establishment sees a constant stream of customers making the journey here from outside the prefecture just to enjoy the food.

The restaurant’s shabu-shabu, seiro mushi steamed dishes, and piping hot stone plate sautéed dishes are made with meats like Kagoshima’s vaunted brand Kagoshima black beef, and flavorful Kagoshima Berkshire pork. The seiro mushi steamed dishes, which bring out the innate flavor of the ingredients, are hearty yet light, making them particularly popular with women. This dish, “fit for a feudal lord,” was originally created to serve to government officials from Satsuma. Over 100 active volcanoes across Kagoshima make it one of the Japan's most exciting prefectures.
