This popular lodging facility features baths fed by a free flowing hot-spring that comes up from 1,200 meters below ground. Day trips to the baths are also available. They offer two large outdoor baths, the Sea Onsen ''Ryugu'' from which you can look over the Sea of Japan, and the Mountain Onsen ''Kaguya'' which is surrounded by a bamboo grove. The baths are gender segregated and swap between men and women every day. Onsite are cottages and a clubhouse so that you can enjoy playing on the nearby beach during the summer.

    Kyoto Miyazu-shi Monju 640-73
"A day-trip hot spring bathhouse located next to Amanohashidate Station. The springs were named in hopes that bathers would be awarded the wisdom and health of the Monju Bosatsu enshrined at Chion-ji Temple, one of the three Japanese famous Monju, famous for the proverb ""Monju no chie,"" meaning ""Two heads are better than one."" Baths include an outdoor bath as well as hand and foot baths allowing you to enjoy the Amanohashidate Spring, known for its healthy skin benefits."

Boasting the largest open-air bath in Northern Kinki, guests come to Kumihama Onsen Yumotokan for banquets, to stay over, or just to drop by for a bath. It's a free-flowing natural hot spring set in the rural landscape of Kumihama. Their outdoor bath that can accommodate as many as 100 people at once is fed by a hot spring flowing from a rocky cliff facing the bath; there's no extra water added it's not heated. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the seasonal scenery.

Kyoto Areas

around-area-map

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
