Amanohashidate Onsen

Hot Spring / Hot Spring Bath
Located in Amanohashidate, considered one of Japan’s three most picturesque destinations, this new hot spring area is an extremely popular base for local sightseeing activities. The waters of the area’s hydrogen carbonate springs, chalybeate springs, and radium springs are said to treat such ailments as nerve pain, muscle soreness, joint pain, fatigue, women’s diseases, sensitivity to cold, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, skin diseases, and hemorrhoids. They are also renowned for their beautifying properties. In addition to being able to stay in hot spring hotels and ryokan inns, many of these lodging facilities offer discount day trip hot spring bathing plans and lunch plans for non-guests. Kyoto Prefectural Route 607, the “Amanohashidate Line,” selected as one of Japan’s most beautiful roads in 1987; and Shirakase-dori and Yorozumachi-dori , neighborhoods which flourished during the Edo period and where many old homes dating to this period still stand, are must-sees.
