This is a rest area on the Onioshi Highway; it has a great view and is located between Karuizawa and Kusatsu/Manza. The facility houses shops selling local agricultural products and wild vegetables as well as snacks as gifts to take home with you and an outdoor dog run (free of charge). There is also a restaurant where you can eat while looking out at the magnificent scenery of the Rokurigahara Plain.

On display and for sale are about 3,000 different styles of chopsticks including the local Obama specialty Wakasa Lacquered Chopsticks, which boast over 80% domestic market share for lacquered chopsticks. This Western confection shop, part of the Toshimaya chain, stands opposite the main Toshimaya shop across Wakamiya Oji and offers seasonal cakes and eclairs. Cakes are sold on the first floor while the second floor is a spacious café. The shop’s unadorned cakes are all equally delicious.

本店の筋向かい、二の鳥居すぐそばにあります。はじめて利用しましたが二階のゆったりしたスペースでおいしいケーキとコーヒーをいただきました。洋栗のモンブラン（６５０円）はボリュームたっぷりで昼食代わりになりました。一階にはケーキの他鳩サブレーが練り込まれたソフトクリームも売っていて、次回是非試したいと思います。

Ibaraki Pref. Kasamashi Kasama 2258-1

A ceramics shop carrying close to 10 thousand pieces by some 500 potters. Located close to the south entrance of Kasama Geijutsunomori Park, the shop can be identified by its large, floor to ceiling windows which occupy most of the front facade of the building. Pieces by ceramics artists are on display right by the entrance and the content of this display is changed every other week. Weekly exhibitions are also held in the shop's gallery space. The shop displays pieces not only by veteran potters but young up and comers as well. In the cafe corner, you can choose your favorite cup from among the many designed by shop artists and take a relaxing coffee break.

明るく綺麗な建物内で様々な展示がありじっくり吟味したい方にはとても良いと思います。少しだけ通路に余裕があると良いかなと思いました。次は夏のネコ展に来れたらなと思いました。

This is a specialty goods shop and restaurant located on Prefectural Route 270 in Shuku, Soja City. The shop sells local special products and fresh vegetables picked in the morning. There is also a gallery that displays and sells crafts. The restaurant serves set meals with a choice of Kibiji okowa glutinous rice with special black soybean or red bean rice, udon noodles, soba and curry. In addition, there is also a cafe menu offering dishes such as Kofunzenzai red bean soup (reservation required) using special tofu.

吉備路もてなしの館は、備中国分寺の駐車場の横、県道270ご線沿いにある施設です。施設内にはレストランとおみやげ屋さんが併設されていました。軽食コーナーのような場所もあり、私たちはここでソフトクリームをいただきました。備中国分寺とこうもり塚古墳を回ってきた後だったので、休憩スポットとしてうれしい立地ですね。

This gardening center surrounded by a coppice has something for gardeners of all skill and experience levels to enjoy. It carries a selection of more than 2,000 items all year long including rose seedlings, perennials, annuals, herbs, clematis, and other plants, as well as gardening supplies and household goods. There is also a cafe that serves lunches and sweets made with local ingredients.

実はそんなに期待していなかったのだが、結構見応えのある庭園。バラも勿論素晴らしかった。が、私は可愛い橋のある大きな池が気に入った。造り自体は似てはいない池だが、モネを想える水面はずっと眺めていられるほど美しかった。

This tourist painting shop is located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. The shop demonstrates and sells ippitsuryu paintings. Ippitsuryu is a style of painting in which a dragon is drawn with a single brush stroke. The works on display in the shop are also available for purchase. Beloved as a lucky charm, many people purchase ippitsuryu paintings as presents for important events. The shop is visited by tourists from Japan and around the world.

This incense and fragrant wood specialty shop is located in Koya Town, Ito County, Wakayama Prefecture. Its white walls and black tiling give it a very grand appearance. It manufactures and sells products used inside the temples of Mt. Koya as well as products for cemetery visits and Buddhist altars at home. You’ll find the famous “reiko” incense as well as sandalwood, Koya mutsugi, and more. There are also incenses and scented oils that assist with healing and getting rid of bad smells, as well as several items that make great souvenirs. The adorable scented bags are a popular purchase.

陶舗やまわは、本川越駅から徒歩15分くらいのところ一番街にあります。長喜院の参道の入口のところにあります。川越を代表する蔵造りの建物です。1月の早朝に見つけました。川越大火直後の明治26年に建てられた2階建の重厚な建物です（写真参照）。歴史的な建物に興味がある方にお勧めのスポットです。

Founded in 1958, the Tanaka Seika is a fresh vegetable, fruit and pickles wholesale store located in Sakae-machi, Rumoi City. The seasonal vegetables grown on the fertile plains of Hokkaido, where temperatures drastically fluctuate every day and night, the Tanaka Seika makes hallmark Hokkaido tsukemono pickled items without any additives. Their shelves are lined with distinctive pickles such as koji-yeast marinated daikon, cabbage, and gutted herring, the fisherman's Yanshu Nishin pickled herring, as well as the seafood daikon pickles or the hakusai cabbage soy sauce pickles expressing the local flavor.
