陶舗やまわは、本川越駅から徒歩15分くらいのところ一番街にあります。長喜院の参道の入口のところにあります。川越を代表する蔵造りの建物です。1月の早朝に見つけました。川越大火直後の明治26年に建てられた2階建の重厚な建物です（写真参照）。歴史的な建物に興味がある方にお勧めのスポットです。
日本最大級の入母屋土蔵造り

蔵造りの街を代表するような存在感ある建物です。入母屋の屋根をガッシリと覆う瓦や、観音開きの扉、軒、屋根飾りの重厚さと艶やかさ、切れ味に圧倒されます。川越大火後の明治中期に建造され、入母屋の土蔵造りとしては日本最大級の規模とのこと。中央通りと長喜院参道入り口路地の角地と言う立地柄、東・南東・南の3方向から、観光客の熱い視線の的になっています。
