Ningle Terrace is a shopping area located in the forest adjacent to the New Furano Prince Hotel. Ningle appears in the book of the same name written by So Kuramoto and refers to the 15 centimeter-tall character known as The Wise Man of the Forest who lived in the forests of Hokkaido in the past. The line of small cottages in the forest with a collection of a variety of craft shops is like getting lost in a picture book. During the day, you can enjoy bathing in the forest while after sunset you can walk the romantic forest paths which are illuminated.

Kitaichi Glass Sangokan (Emporium No. 3) located a little south of the canal is a popular tourist attraction even in Otaru and is well known as a glassware store. It also contains retailers of original glass products such as colorful glasses and lamps as well as cafe bars where stained glass spreads across the ceiling. One of the popular shops is Kitaishi Hall which is lit by 167 oil lamps. Because you can order meals and confectionary in the shop, it is recommended as a place to have a break from sightseeing. This fantasy space that is just like entering the world of the movies is worth a visit.

This souvenir shop is located in the summit observatory of the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway. Here you can find a range of popular products, such as Hakodate Lamb Curry and Hakodate White Lamb Curry, which are made in collaboration with Gotoken. Also available are pin badges inspired by the Mt. Hakodate Ropeway lifts and original merchandise featuring Hakodate's very own character, Kita Usagi. The shop always bustles with sightseers enjoying the view from the top of the mountain. Various credit cards and electronic money can be used.

Founded in 1958, the Tanaka Seika is a fresh vegetable, fruit and pickles wholesale store located in Sakae-machi, Rumoi City. The seasonal vegetables grown on the fertile plains of Hokkaido, where temperatures drastically fluctuate every day and night, the Tanaka Seika makes hallmark Hokkaido tsukemono pickled items without any additives. Their shelves are lined with distinctive pickles such as koji-yeast marinated daikon, cabbage, and gutted herring, the fisherman's Yanshu Nishin pickled herring, as well as the seafood daikon pickles or the hakusai cabbage soy sauce pickles expressing the local flavor. Winner of the Kitano High Grade Shokuhin 2014 Award, for the colorful and visually pleasant pickles, which is a creation of their vegetable sommelier, is very popular.

This seasonings container shop is owned and operated by Kitaichi Glass, a company which brings the culture and traditions of Otaru into the modern day. The shop's primary product is the namesake SaShiSuSeSo, a popular soy sauce dispenser which doesn't drip created by Kitaichi Glass. Made with an integrated, carefully adjusted top, these soy sauce dispensers pour well and prevent unwanted excess dripping. The shop carries a wide variety of these dispensers, from reasonably-priced models perfect for taking home as a souvenir to high-class styles suitable for giving as a present for a special occasion. The shop also carries cute small dishes, chopstick rests, salt shakers, toothpick holders, and more; and souvenir hunters are sure to have fun just looking around.

A shop selling craft goods made by artists most of whom are local to Asahikawa. The goods cover a range of genres including woodwork, pottery, glasswork, and foodstuffs. Their small wooden accessories overflowing with warmth including interior goods, kitchen tools, toys, and stationary items are great for home use but also make perfect small gifts. On the first floor you can also buy fresh baked bread at the Mugi no Kaori bakery which uses natural yeast. The largest store of LeTAO, a famous cake maker in Hokkaido, opened in 2011. Popular sweets such as their signature cake, Double Fromage, are sold in the shop on the first floor. The cafe on the second floor is an intriguing place with animations being shown on the wall and floor. Here you can enjoy some cake, available for limited times only, or a meal while watching videos of animals and fish playing around. You can also take-out crepes and other food made by the bakery and pastry chef. The nearest station is Minami-Otaru Station.

A long-standing Japanese candy shop from Hokkaido. The original Ameya Rokubei opened in Toyama, with the third generation owner taking the establishment to Hokkaido later. Ever since that time Rokubei has continued to make delicious Japanese-style candies in Otaru. The shop is also Rokubei's candy workshop; the street stall out front is covered with colorful candies. Rokubei sells nostalgic, old-fashioned hard candies in flavors like apple, Japanese peppermint, butter, kinako toasted soybean flour, and amazake sweet sake. The shop's candies are sold in small sizes convenient for bringing home and giving to friends as souvenirs, and many customers come here for just this purpose.

A ham and sausage shop operated by the Hakodate Carl Raymon company. The shop was built in 1925 by master sausage maker Carl Raymon after he moved to Japan from Germany. Selling hams and sausages prepared according to traditional German methods, the shop also offers bacon, salami, roast pork, and other delicious meats. The shop has an eat-in space where you can enjoy fresh-cooked hot dogs and sausages right then and there. The second floor of the shop is a museum where you can learn about sausage-making in Japan.
