Crowded with restaurants and lined with giant signs, Dotonbori is a bustling entertainment district where visitors can truly experience Osaka—the city of kuidaore (extravagant eating). Have a bite at a shop selling kushiage (fried vegetable and meat skewers) or okonomiyaki (savory pancakes filled with meat and vegetables), Osaka specialties. Or spend a day visiting the various takoyaki (octopus dumplings) or butaman (steamed pork bun) restaurants. Day and night, this lively thoroughfare is frequented by great numbers of tourists.

- (Provided by service)Located on the western side of the site where the fifth National Industrial Exhibition was held in 1903, the approximately 92 thousand square meter neighborhood of Shinsekai was created to be “new highlight” of Osaka. Just to the north of the center of the area, visitors can find the Tsutenkaku Tower. Janjan Yokocho Alley, located in the southeast of Shinsekai, is lined with shops selling Osaka specialties like kushikatsu (fried pork and onions on skewers) and doteyaki (beef sinew in miso and mirin). The retro atmosphere, reminiscent of the Showa period, makes Shinsekai an extremely popular tourist attraction.

Three large festivals happen every spring, summer and fall. The summer festival happens every 13th and 14th of July with various events being performed. Also, every third Sunday of January a Shinto rope pulling ceremony is held, which was designated as Osaka's first Intangible Folk Cultural Property in 2001. The castle was built on a magnificent scale, but was destroyed just 17 years later after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the destruction of the Toyotomi clan in the Siege of Osaka in 1615. Thereafter, the castle was rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate under the command of Todo Takatora but was once again lost due to a fire caused by a lightning strike. The current castle tower is the third generation to stand here and was completed in 1931 through donations from local citizens. The interior of the castle is a history museum and visitors can enjoy information about the history of Osaka Castle and dioramas. The castle was registered as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 1997.

The temple was destroyed by fires many times and was rebuilt, after which it ended up similar to temple ruins during the anti-Buddhist movement in the Meiji period, although the Tokon-do Hall, the five-storied pagoda, the Hokuen-do Hall and the three-storied pagoda which survived have been designated as National Treasures. The five-storied pagoda which is illuminated at night-time has become a symbol of Nara. There are also many Buddhist images enshrined at the temple which have been designated as National Treasures and Cultural Assets such as the Ashura statue.

The origins to the shrine lie in the early days of the Nara period, when Takemikazuchi-no-mikoto from Kashima-jingu Shrine was enshrined at Mt. Mikasa. The main shrine of the Kasuga structure which is a National Treasure has four buildings lined up, and in addition to the majestic and splendid south Gate and middle gate, there are many things such as fine and industrial art objects which have been designated as Important Cultural Properties. The Bantoro Festival (Lantern Festival) event is held on the day of Setsubun (Bean throwing night) and on the 14th and 15th of August when around 3,000 stone lanterns and hanging lanterns are lit with fire, and many worshipers come to look at this magical sight.

The entire mountain is covered in grass and since it has three small hills that look like conical hats, it is also called Mt. Mikasa (three-hat mountain). Visitors can see deer scattered around the mountain and the mountain makes for a beautiful sight in all four seasons including cherry trees in the spring and changing leaves in the autumn. Every year on the fourth Saturday in January the mountain is set on fire, and a launch of fireworks is used as a sign that the entire mountain is ablaze. This is one of Nara’s large events when there is syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism between Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Todaiji Temple, and Kofukuji Temple so as to pray for the peace and comfort of ancestors, Nara’s disaster prevention, and world peace as well as to announce the coming of spring.

- (Provided by service)A Disney theme park focused on the ocean located inside the Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture. The park is divided into seven differently themed ports, such as one modeled after a port town and another after an ancient ruins excavation site. In addition to Mickey Mouse, characters from properties such as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin appear in the park parade and greet park visitors. The park’s attractions include not only animation-themed rides but also those modeled after live action movies such as Indiana Jones and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. At night, a fantastic and impressive water show is held on the lake in the center of the park which makes use of water screens, laser beams, pyrotechnics, and lights.
