This souvenir store and restaurant faces the Onidake Observatory a 15-minute drive from Fukue Port. The store carries bigfin reef squid, turban shell, and other locally-caught seafood, as well as a wide array of souvenirs, including camellia products and accessories. The restaurant area serves an abundant variety of signature Goto udon noodles. Pay a small extra fee, and you can super-size your order. The Onidake Jumbo shaved ice is only available in summer and, as its name implies, is huge. The store also holds activity classes such as udon noodle making and camellia oil making, and here visitors can savor the unique charms of Goto.

"This souvenir store is situated on Prefectural Route 49 near Goto City Hall a 10-minute walk from Fukue Port. The ""Kaisanbutsu"" part of the store's name means ""marine products,"" but in addition to these, the shop also carries a wide array of specialty products from the Goto Islands. In Kyushu, one of the main marine products produced is foods made from flying fish, known locally as ""ago."" You'll also find an abundant variety of other unique Goto Islands products here, such as Goto udon noodles, kankoro mochi, and local alcoholic beverages. In addition, the market sells product sets perfect for giving as a traditional Japanese ochugen mid-summer gift or oseibo year-end present. You can also find camellia products like camellia oil and soap here, as well as folk crafts such as traditional Goto baramon kites."

Nagasaki Areas

around-area-map

This hidden corner of the country is rural Japan at its best, where underground activity is to thank for active volcanoes and bubbling natural hot springs along the Shimabara Peninsula as well as the crystal clear waters of the Goto Islands off the west coast. Less well known than Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, Nagasaki commemorates its own past at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which sits alongside the charming Meganebashi stone bridge and a mix of religious buildings with beautiful architecture, such as the Zen Buddhist Sofukuji Temple, the Confucian Shrine, and the Oura Christian Church.
