    Ehime Matsuyama-shi Dogo Park
This park in Dogokoen, Matsuyama City was developed around the Yuzuki Castle Ruins, a national historic site. The park, which is surrounded by the castle’s outer moat, retains archeological features such as earthwork fortifications and allotment of land. It also features recreations of samurai houses and a history museum that exhibits artifacts unearthed during archeological surveys, among other items. Many people also visit the park in the spring to see its famous cherry blossoms.

It is close to Dogo station, just a short walking distance. It is not a big park but a nice park to walk around and take some pictures.

  • Matsuyama Sogo Park

    Ehime Matsuyama-shi Asahigaoka 1-1633-2
A nature park sprawling to the west of National Route 196 traveling from JR Matsuyama Station. The park can be easily identified by its hilltop observatory modeled after an ancient European castle. The park is filled with play facilities, including a huge playground and roller slide. Cherry, camellia, and other seasonal flowering trees are grown around the park's square, making it a place where children can play and come in contact with nature. One of the park's biggest draws is the observatory, which offers a sweeping view of the Seto Inland Sea and the Matsuyama Plain. At night, visitors can enjoy a beautiful nightscape, including a lit up Matsuyama Castle; this night view has even been selected as one of the 100 Night Views of Japan.

"With a size totaling about 41 hectares in the park, this complex embodies a place where people come together, and which promotes mental and physical health through sports and recreation. The park is located in the southern part of Matsuyama City and has a number of sports facilities including the main baseball field, ""Botchan Stadium"", the ""No Ball Museum"" of baseball history, and the sub baseball field, ""Madonna Stadium"". Also present are recreational facilities including the grand ""Ehime Prefectural Budokan hall"", and the ""Aqua Palette"" with an outdoor lazy river and water slides which help make this the largest multipurpose park in Shikoku."

    Ehime Matsuyama-shi Horinouchi
An urban park sprawling in the Sannomaru on the west side of Matsuyama Castle. Surrounded by earthen walls and enclosed by a moat, the Horinouchi area was completed in 1605 and was built to serve as a palace for feudal lords, a residence for retainers, and as a government facility for the domain where rice was stored. Today, the area is maintained as a field where visitors can enjoy light exercises like running and playing catch. The park is also used for events on weekends and serves as a space for local residents to rest and relax. In spring, many cherry trees bloom in the park, and it has even been selected as one of the Japan Top 100 Sakura Viewing Sites. When the trees are flowering, the park bustles with large numbers of visitors come to see the blossoms.

This park adjacent to the inner sanctuary of Sairinji Temple is located in Minamitakai-machi, Matsuyama City. The waterside park is built around the Jonofuchi spring. The name Jonofuchi originates from a legend about the Buddhist monk Kukai. In addition to waterfronts and rich greenery, the park also features open spaces, gazebos, and other attractions. It is used by local residents as a place for rest and relaxation.

This green space in central Matsuyama City is located along the Ishite River, a Class A river that runs through the city from east to west. It stretches for approximately six kilometers from Iwazeki Bridge to Ichitsubo Bridge. New sporting facilities, open spaces, a dog park, and other attractions were added in recent years as part of a project to redevelop the green space based on a concept entitled “let’s develop an urban oasis and leave behind a legacy of green.”

Ehime Areas

around-area-map

Stretched across the northwest corner of Shikoku island, Ehime is a nature-rich prefecture boasting beautiful coastlines and a rural center where mountains play host to 26 of the Buddhist temples that make up the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Matsuyama is home to an original post-feudal castle as well as Dogo Onsen, one of the country’s oldest natural hot springs. The northern city of Imabari marks the entrance to the Shimano Kaido, a road that crosses six spectacular bridges and several islands, forming a route between Shikoku and mainland Honshu.
