  • Hojo Kashima Beach

    This swimming beach is in Hojotsuji, Matsuyama City. This long, narrow beach is on Kashima Island in the western part of Hojo Harbor, and visitors can enjoy ocean swimming in the abundant natural environment of the island, which is part of Setonaikai National Park. In addition to being equipped with rest areas, showers, and toilets, it also has a breakwater that is a great place for fishing.

    This green space in central Matsuyama City is located along the Ishite River, a Class A river that runs through the city from east to west. It stretches for approximately six kilometers from Iwazeki Bridge to Ichitsubo Bridge. New sporting facilities, open spaces, a dog park, and other attractions were added in recent years as part of a project to redevelop the green space based on a concept entitled “let’s develop an urban oasis and leave behind a legacy of green.”

    This vineyard is located in Shimohatanokawa, Kumakogen Town, Kamiukena County. It grows five varieties of grape including large red Beniizu grapes, Delaware grapes and Pione grapes. From late August to mid-October, the vineyard offers grape picking at its covered grape arbors. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as barbecuing at Donguri no Mori (this activity is only for guests who are picking grapes) or digging potatoes in mid-September. There is also a farmer’s market that sells grapes, handmade konnyaku (yam cake), juice, and other items.

    This agricultural complex is located on Prefectural Route 209 in Shimohatanokawa, Kumakogen Town, Kamiukena County. It is comprised of training facility for new farmers, a community farm, and a community plaza. The facility offers users of the community farm services such as plant cultivation seminars and agricultural equipment rentals. There is also a market where visitors can buy produce, seedlings, and other items. Visitors can also enjoy strawberry picking from February to May (reservation required).

    This art museum is attached to Kuma Country Club, a golf course in Higashimyojin, Kumakogen town, Kamiukena district. Their exhibitions center mostly around bronzes by domestic and international artists like Rodin, Renoir, and more. You can also view an outdoor display of Satoshi Yabuuchi's Running Boy. It's only open by reservation from Wednesday through Friday.

    This park is in Besshiyama, Niihama city. The natural parkland ranges in elevation from 700 to 900 meters, and there are facilities like Auberge Yuragi with lodging, restaurants, and more, and the Sakura Kobo workshop where you can try woodworking. In May, they hold the Pergola Fuji Matsuri in a 45 meter diameter dome-shaped wisteria trellis, Japan's largest.

    This swimming beach is located in Kawanohama, Ikata Town, Nishiuwa County. It is a natural sand beach stretching for one kilometer along the Uwa Coast with calm, clear water. Many people visit it during the swimming season, including people from outside the town. At Shirasu Park, they can also enjoy eating whitefish caught in the nearby waters.

    This camping ground is a part of Outdoor Oasis Ishizuchi, an outdoor recreation complex attached to the Ishizuchisan Service Area of the Matsuyama Expressway in Shinyashiki, Komatsu-cho, Saijo City. It features 10 auto camping sites and 10 first-come first-served sites located on high ground that overlooks the city. The complex features a variety of facilities such as a visitor’s center that includes a Montbell outdoor clothing and equipment store, the Oasis Market, which sells local produce, and the Tsubaki Koryukan hot spring bathhouse.

They grow seven types of blueberry in a chemical-free environment, and nine types of grape in low chemical environments, as well as various other vegetables, fruits, and herbs. They offer all kinds of harvesting activities (by reservation only), like blueberry picking from mid-July through late August, then grapes from early August through late September.

    This farm is located in Takamatsu, Tanbara-cho, Saijo City. It grows fruit using organic fertilizer. Guests can enjoy picking figs from late August to early November and persimmons from late October to mid or late November. The farm also offers chestnut harvesting from September to early October. Guests can roast and eat their chestnuts right there at the farm. All three activities require a reservation.

    This sightseeing farm is on prefectural route 48 in Nagano, Tanbara-cho, Saijo city. This farm is run in cooperation with local fruit growers, and offers the chance to pick various fruits in different seasons. From early June they have peaches, then the season moves to blueberries, grapes, figs, chestnuts, persimmons, kiwi, and so on through the year. They also grow clusters of succulents, and they hold flower arrangement classes using roses year-round.

    This fruit farm is along prefectural route 48 in Nagano, Tanbara-cho, Saijo city. They grow a huge variety of fruits in chemical free plots, including about 30 types of grapes, Saijo's special Atago Persimmon, figs, kiwis, and the incredibly rare paw-paw fruit. You can try picking all kinds of fruit yourself in season.
  • Saijo Blueberry Farm

    This fruit farm is located in Iioka, Saijo City. It raises a variety of berries including blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. The farm uses soil cultivation in order to create a growing environment as close to nature as possible. It has even been certified as an “eco-farmer” by the prefecture. The farm is open from mid-July to mid-August and offers blueberry picking (reservation required). . It also serves gelato made with blueberries and other fruits.

    This park is located in Fukutake, Saijo City. It features a promenade, an open space with play equipment, an observatory with a sweeping view of the city, and other attractions. It is also adjacent to the Saijo Archaeological History Museum. Visitors can also enjoy seasonal flowers such as the 1,000 plum trees representing 20 varieties that have been planted in the park’s plum garden.

    This art museum is located in Oriai, Shirokawa-cho, Seiyo City. There is a yearly national kamaboko board painting exhibition, which displays paintings made on kamaboko boards. Entries are displayed from mid-July tothe first Sunday of December. Outside of this exhibition period, other works such as paintings, sculptures and pottery are also displayed.

    This museum located in Nomura, Nomura-cho, Seiyo City features exhibits about silk production in the region that was formerly Nomura Town. Nomura came to be known as “the town of milk and silk” for its prosperous dairy farming and sericulture industries. Visitors can view materials about the history of sericulture, see tools used in the production of raw silk thread, and even try their hand at hand weaving or dyeing.

The Wind Museum's catchphrase is ""bringing wind into people's hearts"", and contains exhibits about wind power generation, as well as a wind tunnel experimentation room, and collections of cultural documents such as books, movies, music and other writings that have ""wind"" in their titles. And in the Utamaro building, there are woodblock Ukiyo-e prints by Utamaro Kitagawa and exhibits showing the history of ukiyo-e and how they are made, as well as reproduction ukiyo-e prints that can be purchased."

    This park is located in Ozu, Ozu City. It is a historical park developed around the Ozu Castle Sannomaru Minami Sumi Yagura Turret, a Nationally-Designated Important Cultural Property. The park also features the Main Building of the Former Kato Family Residence, a Nationally-Registered Tangible Cultural Asset. It was built during the Taisho period by Kato Yasumichi, who was an honorary citizen of Ozu City and the son of Kato Yasuaki, the last lord of the Ozu Domain.

Stretched across the northwest corner of Shikoku island, Ehime is a nature-rich prefecture boasting beautiful coastlines and a rural center where mountains play host to 26 of the Buddhist temples that make up the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Matsuyama is home to an original post-feudal castle as well as Dogo Onsen, one of the country’s oldest natural hot springs. The northern city of Imabari marks the entrance to the Shimano Kaido, a road that crosses six spectacular bridges and several islands, forming a route between Shikoku and mainland Honshu.
