    A botanical garden where visitors can enjoy a variety of classes and hands-on activities which was first opened in April 2000 with the aim of promoting flowers and greenery in the city. An abundance of events are also held at the park and from the end of the year through the new, the park is lit up at night. The park permits visitors to bring their own food and beverages; come on a sunny day with a homemade lunch and have a picnic! A 10-minute walk from JR Miyazaki Station.

    A prefectural park located in a hilly area 60 meters above sea level surrounded by natural forest. The park’s spacious grounds offer a sweeping view of Miyazaki City and its open grass lawn, athletics field, and children’s play area make it a popular destination for a great many visitors from both in and outside the prefecture. The park’s Peace Tower, erected in 1940 to mark the 2,600th year since the founding of Japan, stands 37 meters high. An impressive piece of architecture, its appearance seems to change depending on the viewing angle and the light of the day.

    This science museum has one of the world's largest planetariums. Outside is a 40-meter-tall full-scale mockup of an H1 rocket and inside is a replica of the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander Module. The planetarium shows three shows per day, each approximately 50 minutes long. The shows explore that evening's night sky with explanations from popular characters from space-themed anime. There's also hand on exhibitions, including a simulation where you can try controlling a spaceship, making this a great place to bring kids to. The museum is a two-minute walk from JR Miyazaki Station.

    Japan’s first wax figure museum dedicated to Japanese myths located on the grounds of Aoshima Jinja. The museum presents 12 segments from Japanese myths in an easy to understand way using 30 wax figures, including the descent of the sun goddess; the story “Yamasachihiko, Umisahihiko,” which relates to the deities the shrine is dedicated to; and the conquest of Japan by Emperor Jinmu. The museum also displays wax figures of the Seven Gods of Fortune and former Yomiuri Giants baseball coach Shigeo Nagashima, who frequently went camping in Miyazaki.

    A museum located in the Saitobaru Tomb Area, a collection of some of Japan’s oldest tombs. Now a designated Special Historic Landmark Park, the area is dotted with over 300 tombs. The museum displays artefacts from the tombs and visitors can learn about the formation of the geography of southern Kyushu and the mysteries of the tombs from a diverse array of materials. The Ancient Life Interactive Center’s hands on exhibits, where visitors can ake a hands-on class about making haniwa and dogu clay figures, is particularly popular. From the third-floor restaurant, you can enjoy a cup of tea while gazing out over the Saitobaru Tomb Area, famed for its seasonal blossoms, particularly its cherries in spring.

    Approximately a ten-minute drive from the Saito Interchange, these burial mounds are scattered around Chigogaike Park. Over 300 burial mounds remain over a very large area 2.6 kilometers from east to west and 4.2 kilometers north to south, and preservation activities are being conducted as a special historic park from its academic value. In the park, besides the burial mounds such as the Oni no Iwaya Kofun that can be seen, there is also the Saitobaru Archaeological Museum of Miyazaki Prefecture. In addition, it is a popular flower spot with cherry blossoms and rape blossoms in the spring, and cosmos in the autumn.

    Approximately a ten-minute walk from the Yokoichi bus stop, this natural park is located in the hilly area in western Miyakonojo City. The park was also chosen as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots, and the 2,600 trees that line the two kilometer area is spectacular. The Miyakonojo Mochio Sakura Festival is held from late Marth to early April when they are in full bloom, and it is visited every year by tens of thousands of tourists. The view from Mochio Shrine on the top of the hill is a must-see. Sekinoo Falls, a powerful waterfall made up of three, was chosen as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls, and the group of potholes upstream are a spectacular spot designated as a national natural monument.

    This sandy beach is located approximately a three-minute walk from the Kanegahama bus stop. Known as a great surfing spot visited by surfers from inside and outside the prefecture, there are many sightings of famous celebrities. The biggest attraction is that you can enjoy surfing throughout the year, so several competitions are held there. It is also said to be the birthplace of surfing in Kyushu. You can swim for the month from late July to late August, and besides facilities such as showers and lockers, there is also an inn and campground nearby.

    Sun Beach Hitotsuba, which is the only artificial beach in Miyazaki Prefecture, is located around 10 minutes' drive from JR Miyazaki Station, or can also be reached by taking the Hitotsuba Toll Road; the Beach is immediately adjacent to the Marina-mae Exit. The beach is divided into two zones: North Beach and South Beach. South Beach has gentle waves and is suitable for families with small children. North Beach is a dedicated area for marine sports such as stand-up paddle-boarding and sea-kayaking, and for beach volleyball. North Beach also has an area for barbecues; spaces for having a barbecue can be booked at the Beach Office, which also sells and rents out barbecue equipment.

    This is a science museum in Kushima City, home to Misaki horses. The museum displays models that visitors can see a glimpse of the world through a horse-eye view, the history of the connection between people and horses, the food chain, and a diorama of Cape Toi. Visitors can also enjoy images of nature and the Misaki horse at the 120-inch theater and also the view overlooking the Pacific Ocean. As well as being able to experience making a decorative strap for your phone or keyring from cycad cones, locally grown mango and hyuganatsu citrus, and confectionaries are also available.

    This zoo opened in 1971 and houses 1,600 animals of 80 different kinds. Inside there is an Asian elephant exhibition, African park, camel park, ape house and children’s animal village, and with the various exhibitions, amusement park, restaurants and shops available, one can certainly enjoy the whole day here. During summer the entrance fee also allows visitors to use the 200-meter-long water-slide equipped pool, which is crowded with children every year.

    This is a leisure facility in Kobayashi City located on the shores of Lake Nojiri. Locally grown vegetables, folk art and special products are sold in the characteristic melon shaped dome. Various kinds of amusement, regardless of the season, can be enjoyed such as a children's train, sky cycle rides, and miniature golf. Water sliders and pools are also open during the summer.

    小学低学年までは、とても重宝する公園です。駐車場代や遊具で遊ぶのは無料。バッテリーカーなど一部有料の乗り物もありますが、設置してある遊具は自由に遊べます。天気がいい日などはピクニック気分でレジャーシートを敷いてお弁当を食べたりするのもありです。また、お父さんのごろ寝ポイントもたくさんあります。夏は併設しているプールで遊べます。レストランでランチビュッフェを食べるのも有りです。
